Purpose of Job The Membership & Volunteer Development Manager, Community & Collaboration (C&C) Division leads the development and management of YWCA’s membership and volunteer ecosystem, with a focus on building a values‑aligned community that supports women and their families. The role oversees membership schemes, drives meaningful engagement for members and volunteers, and strengthens pathways from participation to contribution. This includes growing and activating a sustainable volunteer pool, including converting members into active contributors. The role works closely with programme teams to ensure that membership and volunteer efforts are purposefully integrated into programme delivery and community‑building outcomes. Key Responsibilities Membership Strategy & Development Develop and manage membership frameworks, including tiering, value propositions and engagement models. Strengthen member acquisition, retention and participation across different segments (e.g. individuals, corporates). Ensure membership offerings are aligned to organisational priorities and community‑building outcomes. Volunteer Development & Growth Develop and implement strategies to grow and sustain a diverse and committed volunteer pool. Design and manage volunteer pathways, including onboarding, development and retention. Drive conversion of members and community participants into active volunteers. Engagement & Community Building Curate meaningful engagement opportunities for members and volunteers, including events, circles and contribution platforms. Foster a sense of belonging, ownership and participation within the YWCA community. Design engagement approaches that move individuals from participation to contribution. Partnership & Ecosystem Development Build and manage partnerships with corporates, community groups and stakeholders to support membership and volunteer initiatives. Develop collaboration opportunities that expand access to networks, resources and participation platforms. Support integration of partners into engagement and volunteer pathways. Monitoring, Insights & Governance Track membership and volunteer metrics (e.g. growth, engagement, conversion, retention). Analyse insights to strengthen engagement strategies and community outcomes. Prepare reports and updates for management, committees and stakeholders. Prepare reports, presentations and materials for management, committees and board discussions. Support committee meetings and board engagement processes, including coordination and follow‑ups. Operations & Programme Integration Oversee operational processes supporting membership and volunteer initiatives, including systems, communications and coordination. Ensure effective integration of volunteers into programme delivery in collaboration with programme teams. Maintain compliance with organisational policies and safeguarding standards. Requirements Degree in Community Development, Social Sciences, Business, or a related field. At least 6–8 years of relevant experience in community engagement, membership development, volunteer management or related areas. Demonstrated experience in building and managing membership or volunteer ecosystems, including growth and engagement strategies. Experience in stakeholder and partnership development, including working with corporates and community organisations. Experience in designing engagement initiatives or community platforms. Strong ability to manage multiple initiatives and stakeholders concurrently. Excellent communication, facilitation and coordination skills. Familiarity with community engagement or social impact contexts will be an advantage. Competencies Knowledge Understanding of community engagement, membership models and volunteerism practices. Awareness of motivations and behaviours of volunteers and community participants. Familiarity with engagement and retention approaches in community or social impact settings. Skills Ability to design engagement journeys and pathways that drive participation and contribution. Ability to translate insights into strategies to improve member and volunteer engagement. Ability to influence and mobilise stakeholders, including partners and community members. Ability to manage and grow community ecosystems across different segments.
