Overview The Director, Operational Resilience, will lead a team that maintains and matures BMO’s Operational Resilience Program. Working across first and second lines, they will ensure the business continues to operate effectively through any incident and meets relevant resilience targets. The role involves managing reporting capabilities, guidelines, and controls to assess compliance with internal operational resilience frameworks, policies, and standards, while continuously improving the organization’s resilience posture. Key Responsibilities Lead the operational resilience team within the Financial Crimes Unit, maintaining and evolving the program. Manage reporting capabilities, guidelines, and controls to ensure compliance with internal frameworks and continuous improvement. Own OpRes CBPS analytics and reporting to assess vulnerabilities, risk management status, regulatory compliance, and overall CBPS capability. Develop and deliver reports using Power BI and senior‑level PowerPoint presentations. Ensure operating groups understand their roles, responsibilities, and receive guidance, data, and information to execute resilience requirements. Report on governance program status to internal and external stakeholders. Monitor remediation of control deficiencies. Core Experience & Skills 7‑10 years of people‑leadership experience. 7+ years in an operational risk environment with expertise in non‑financial risk and operational resilience regulations. Strong understanding of cyber security, fraud, business continuity, incident and crisis management, disaster recovery, technology resilience, and supplier/vendor management. 5+ years overseeing non‑financial operational risk. Experience in second‑line of defence for non‑financial risk. Preferred experience in the financial industry. Experience conducting stress or scenario testing for resilience validation. Experience tailoring operational risk programs across Canada, the US, the UK, Ireland, and Asia. Certifications such as CCSA, CISA, CA, CCSP, ISC, BCI, or ITIL are advantageous. Advanced Power BI and PowerPoint skills. Strong data‑analytics, Excel, and organizational skills. Leadership behaviors aligned with BMO values and Ambition 2030. Provide executive guidance on risk and strategic initiatives. Design and produce regular and ad‑hoc reports and dashboards. Lead change‑management programs and communications strategy. Maintain compliance with regulatory reporting and audits. Support the broader operational risk program and strategic decision making across the organization. Other responsibilities may be assigned as needed. Qualifications 9+ years of relevant experience and a post‑secondary degree or equivalent education. Expert knowledge of operational risk management practices and regulatory requirements. Experience with quantitative techniques and economic capital methodologies. Strong risk policy framework expertise and quality‑control testing skills. Advanced analytical, problem‑solving, and influence skills. Collaboration ability across groups and high‑level communication skills. Ability to manage ambiguity and drive data‑driven decision making.
