Under the incumbent’s leadership, financial reporting is accurate and timely, financial closes are efficient and continuously improving, systems and processes are optimized and cross‑trained to others.This role is responsible for the delivery of accurate, timely financial reporting and strong internal controls, while actively partnering with operations and finance colleagues to provide forward‑looking perspectives that support organizational decision‑making. The Team Lead champions a culture of continuous improvement, service orientation, and accountability, ensuring processes, systems, and outputs are aligned with the organization’s mission, operational needs, and strategic priorities.What You Will Do Essential duties, responsibilities, and performance measures Lead the accurate and efficient preparation of audit‑ready monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with accounting standards and internal policies. Oversee general ledger integrity, reconciliation processes and contribute to integrated financial planning and reporting. Lead by example to strengthen Finance’s reputation as a trusted business partner and support organizational initiatives requiring financial expertise.Financial Operations Implement and refine financial policies, procedures, and controls to support consistency and reliability. Drive standardization and consistency across corporate accounting practices while identifying and implementing opportunities to streamline and automate. Be the Workday Functional Lead for the finance module and processes, collaborating with IT, other leads and reporting to the Steering Committee. Monitors cash flow requirements and supports liquidity planning for both operations and capital projects.Team Leadership and Service Excellence Lead, coach, and develop corporate accounting staff in alignment with the Team Lead, Financial Planning & Analysis. Establish and monitor performance metrics that enhance service quality, efficiency, and responsiveness. Contribute to developing and executing Finance’s transformation roadmap. Establish clear performance metrics (timeliness, quality, cycle time, service levels) and a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning.Compliance and Risk Management Execute the internal controls over financial reporting (ICOFR) program. Ensure compliance with legislation, agreements, and internal policies. Coordinate external audits and support audit readiness and action plans.Qualifications EducationBachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration.A Canadian or international accounting designation is required. MBA and related finance, accounting and operations experience considered an asset.Experience8+ years of progressive experience in finance and accounting functions.3+ years of experience in a senior or leadership position in a finance team.Experience working in environments with ERP and integrated financial systems (e.g. Dynamics 365, SAP, Oracle).
