Works on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of identifiable factors and a considerable degree of judgement. Erroneous decisions or failure to achieve results may have a negative impact on the divisions/departments operations, schedules, and/or performance goals. Works under minimum Supervision. Seeks approval from others on matters outside of job/role scope. Receives instruction on specific assignment objectives and possible solutions. Unusual problems are solved jointly with manager. Work is reviewed for application of sound technical judgment. Will lead a work group or project team consisting of technical and support staff as required. Leads by example and is accountable for their actions.Detailed DescriptionReview and analyze customer RFQ documents, drawings, and technical dataDevelop accurate labor estimates required for product manufacturingAssess manufacturing processes and identify required capital equipment or tooling investmentsEvaluate production capacity and identify potential constraints or bottlenecksCollaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, operations, supply chain) to develop cost modelsProvide recommendations for Design for Manufacturability (DFM) to improve efficiency, reduce cost, and mitigate riskSupport quotation development with detailed cost breakdowns and assumptionsIdentify risks and opportunities within RFQs and propose mitigation strategiesContinuously improve estimating methodologies and toolsPhysical DemandsDuties of this position are performed in a normal office environmentDuties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed dataRepetitive manual movements are frequently required (e.g. data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc)Occasional overnight travel may be requiredTypical Experience5+ years of experience in manufacturing, cost estimation, or process engineering (preferred)Strong understanding of manufacturing processes (machining, fabrication, assembly, etc.)Experience interpreting engineering drawings and specificationsFamiliarity with cost modeling, labor standards, and capacity planningProficiency in Excel and/or cost estimation toolsStrong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skillsExperience working with RFQs in a manufacturing environmentKnowledge of ERP/MRP systemsLean manufacturing or Six Sigma experienceExposure to capital equipment planning and ROI analysisTypical EducationBachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or related field)Education experience may vary by geography.The stated range includes Base Salary and target Short-Term Incentive (STI) compensation only.
