Compensation The base salary for this role ranges between $103,760 - $142,670, with eligibility for an incentive target of 15% which is contingent upon achieving both individual and company performance objectives. Actual compensation will vary depending on factors such as geographic work location, relevant experience, and individual skills. Position Details The Contracts Manager is responsible for reviewing, negotiating, drafting and interpreting commercial and government tenders and contracts, with the objective of identifying and mitigating business and contracting risks. Working alongside legal and business stakeholders, the primary focus will be on sales contracts, with secondary focus on direct and indirect procurement contracts. Contract types to navigate include contract templates, customer/vendor templates, amendments, confidentiality agreements, RFX documents, and purchase order terms and conditions. You Will Generate agreements from standard approved templates. Assist business teams in reviewing tender and contract documentation and provide recommendations on contract terms and conditions. Ensure that the necessary internal stakeholders are canvassed on identified legal and commercial issues and that internal approvals are received to ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures. Recommend alternative or additional bid or contract wording to mitigate, contain, and transfer risk exposures and address contingencies. Negotiate legal and selected business issues directly with customers and legal counterparts. Liaise with sales and supplier management partners to answer questions about processes, matter status, contracts, and other inquiries. Support continuous improvement by identifying, developing, and implementing new forms, templates, and processes to support business initiatives, while identifying and addressing risk exposure to existing documents. Report to the legal team on contracting and risk issues where significant legal implications arise from the contracting process, and provide assistance as required. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams with a proactive and solution‑oriented mindset. Work with senior members of Grainger’s Corporate Affairs team on project‑based legal assignments and initiatives. Embrace curiosity with a continuous learning mindset. You Have Bachelor’s Degree required. 7+ years of contract drafting and negotiating experience, with excellent knowledge of business and legal terms, conditions, and risk management, preferably in distribution or manufacturing. Formal legal training would be a significant asset. Strong ability to identify relevant issues resulting from contract wording and terms. Strong understanding of contract terminology, drafting principles, and practices. Excellent business acumen, sound judgment, and solid negotiation skills. Proven track record in drafting, reviewing, revising, and negotiating a diverse range of contracts with minimal supervision. Detail‑oriented with exceptional organizational, time‑management, and analytical abilities. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English required; proficiency in French considered a significant asset. Excellent interpersonal skills to inspire trust and confidence. Ability to handle concurrent tasks for multiple internal clients in a time‑sensitive manner. Team orientation with a “can‑do” attitude, able to work with diverse corporate professionals and personnel at all levels. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Adobe, and PowerPoint.
