Your future role on our team… BBA is looking for a Sr. Structural Engineer, with expertise in Dams and Hydropower to join our Winnipeg office. You will be the technical reference for detailed engineering and constructability in the field of dam design and dam safety, with a primary focus on structural engineering aspects of concrete, steel, and composite dam structures and appurtenant facilities. Type of position: Régulier With us, you’ll get the opportunity to… Lead and contribute to Dam Safety Reviews, Dam Safety Inspections, and supporting technical reports, with an emphasis on structural performance and safety. Support and lead detailed structural design, rehabilitation, and upgrade engineering for dams and appurtenant structures, including spillways, powerhouses, intake structures, penstocks, outlet works, and gates. Perform structural analysis and design of concrete and steel dam components, including static, dynamic, thermal, and seismic analyses in accordance with applicable codes and CDA guidelines. Prepare and review tender documents and construction packages, and provide technical support during procurement. Provide construction supervision and engineering support, including review of shop drawings, construction submittals, and site inspections as required. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior and intermediate engineers. Participate in business development activities, including proposal preparation, technical writing, client presentations, and participation in industry conferences and committees. Client-oriented Focused on results Committed to the firm’s success Strong Business acumen Action-oriented Sound engineering judgement and decision-making Ability to develop technical competencies in others Autonomous and accountable Adaptable and collaborative across disciplines Overview Of Certifications And Job Requirements Degree in Civil or Structural engineering Engineering from a recognized university 15+ years of relevant professional experience in hydropower engineering and dam safety Current registration with EGM (or equivalent) as a professional engineer Demonstrated experience participating in at least three dam safety reviews Current knowledge of the Manitoba Dam Safety Regulation, CDA Dam Safety Guidelines and relevant international dam safety standards Reclamation Code for Mines in Manitoba and the CDA Dam Safety Guidelines Advanced knowledge in the field of structural engineering and applicable to dams and hydropower including steel and concrete design, seismic design, codes, standards, procedures, safety and other regulatory requirements and guidelines Professional engineer designation with EGM or equivalent Experience with structural analysis and design software such as SAP2000. Excellent spoken and written English communication skills. Additional languages such as Spanish or French are an asset.
