The Opportunity McElhanney seeks an Immediate Geotechnical Engineer to join our team in Northwest BC. This role is part of a growing, small‑office geotechnical team supported by a wider network of Geotechnical Professionals in British Columbia and Alberta. You will help shape our regional geotechnical services and grow our presence via local experience and professional connections. What You’ll Do Support the delivery of geotechnical solutions for civil infrastructure projects, including linear infrastructure, water & wastewater systems, slope stability, buildings, and marine structures. Lead geotechnical field investigations and studies, interpreting and documenting results. This role involves a combination of field and office work. Prepare fee estimates and proposals for small to medium assignments ($10,000–$100,000). Contribute to internal and external business development and client management. Coordinate project schedules and budgets efficiently. Provide oversight, guidance, direction, and mentoring to junior technical staff. Grow technical expertise to support current and future McElhanney business and the Geotechnical team. What You’ll Bring University degree in Geotechnical/Geological Engineering or Civil Engineering with a geotechnical emphasis. 5 to 12 years of progressive experience in relevant geotechnical fields. Strong knowledge of geotechnical design principles for civil infrastructure projects. Registration with Engineers and Geoscience BC (or eligibility) and possession of a Professional Engineer or Geoscientist registration, or current EIT or GIT status with ability to register within one year. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Project management skills, including budgeting, financial oversight, and schedule management. Business development capabilities and mentoring experience. What Can We Offer You? The salary range for this position is $95,000 to $125,000 per annum, commensurate with education, experience, skills, and qualifications.
