Reporting to the Director of Convention Services and Events, the Senior Convention Services Manager plays a key role in the coordination, planning, and execution of large‑scale conventions, meetings, and events. Acting as the primary liaison between clients and the hotel’s various departments, this individual actively contributes to revenue optimization, guest satisfaction, and the operational performance of the department. Event Management & Coordination Oversee the planning and execution of group bookings and events, from contract signing through post‑event follow‑up. Review files transferred by the Sales team and ensure the accuracy of all event details. Plan and lead pre‑convention meetings with clients and internal teams. Prepare banquet event orders (BEOs), room setup plans, and validate event requirements. Coordinate room blocks and ensure proper system updates and follow‑up. Maintain an active on‑site presence during major events and serve as the primary contact for clients. Interdepartmental Collaboration Act as the central liaison between Sales, Food & Beverage, Culinary, Rooms Division, Engineering, and external vendors. Communicate all operational event details through internal communication tools and systems. Participate in departmental meetings (forecasting, operations, sales, credit, etc.). Work closely with audiovisual (AV) providers to ensure technical planning, coordination, and quality execution for all events. Contribute expertise to the review and development of banquet menus. Service Excellence & Financial Performance Maximize revenue opportunities through menu upgrades, enhanced services, and additional event offerings. Manage all billing processes, including deposits, prepayments, adjustments, and final invoicing. Conduct post‑convention follow‐ups, gather client feedback, and identify future business opportunities. Support the continuous improvement of operational processes and service standards. Leadership & Senior Role Responsibilities Serve as a mentor and resource for less experienced managers and coordinators. Collaborate closely with the Director in achieving departmental goals and objectives. Participate in training, coaching, and the implementation of best practices. Stay informed of industry trends and Marriott brand standards. Qualifications & Required Skills Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role within convention services and events, preferably in an upscale hotel environment. Strong expertise in coordinating large‑scale events and banquet operations. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both French and English. Strong organizational, prioritization, and decision‑making abilities. Outstanding customer service skills with exceptional attention to detail. Assets Degree in Hospitality Management or a related field. Knowledge of hotel and event management systems (CI/TY, Social Tables, PMS/Marsha, MS Office, etc.). Experience working within a Marriott environment or an international hotel chain.
