The Senior Data Scientist will be a pivotal member of the Enterprise Data and Analytics Team, responsible for designing, developing, and implementing advanced analytics and AI models and ensuring data solutions are accessible and usable across the organization. This role is for a newly created position; internal candidates are considered as part of our standard process. What You’ll Do Lead, research, design, develop and implement advanced analytics and AI models. Partner, collaborate and influence with data engineers, data analysts, and other stakeholders. Develop GenAI and LLM models. Drive and analyze large and complex, structured and unstructured data. Prepare AI‑ready data models. Provide technical leadership, guidance and mentorship to junior data scientists. Ensure the accuracy and reliability of data science models, conduct peer reviews of AI and other predictive models. Research and stay updated with the latest advancements in data science and AI technologies. Design and Decision‑Making Drive and lead solution design, prioritization of work and deliverables, assessment, selection, and risk management of new and emerging technologies. Advance AI and software programming, documentation and model transparency. Conduct peer reviews of models and tools, and recommend best‑practice methodologies. Work closely with data analysts, data scientists, and stakeholders to understand and deliver on data requirements. Provide guidance and mentorship to data team members. What You Bring Technical Skills Experience with machine learning frameworks and data mining techniques. Proficiency in a programming language such as Python (and Java). Advanced knowledge of SQL Server and T‑SQL programming. Experience with PowerBI for data visualization and reporting. Familiarity with MS Fabric for data integration and management. Experience in developing and managing ETL pipelines. Nice to have: Cloud computing, Microsoft Azure, Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, AI Foundry, Azure Synapse Analytics. Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts and best practices. Analytical Skills Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, able to interpret complex data sets. Communication Skills Excellent verbal and written communication, able to convey technical information to non‑technical stakeholders. Location & Work Arrangement Toronto Corporate Office with travel to St. Catharines as needed.
