We are seeking an AI Consultant to take ownership of building, maintaining, and scaling AI-driven systems across both our internal operations and our client engagements. This is a hands-on role focused on execution, with a strong emphasis on building reliable, production-grade systems. You will work closely with our Operations Manager and COO to translate strategic direction into scalable, secure, and well-architected systems. This is a foundational hire — you will be the first dedicated person in this function and will play a key role in building the structure, standards, and future team around AI and automation at YBL. Key responsibilitiesDesign and build internal automations to streamline workflows across bookkeeping, accounting, and operations Implement AI tools to reduce manual tasks and improve accuracy Connect systems using APIs, webhooks, and automation platforms Build and scale internal applications using platforms such as Lovable and supporting technologies Continuously identify opportunities to improve efficiency through automation Work with stakeholders to define client pain points, requirements, and desired outcomes Translate business challenges into structured system designs, including functional and non-functional requirements Design and implement AI and automation systems tailored to client businesses Build workflows that improve client reporting, document management, and data flow Identify opportunities to develop "co‑pilot" style solutions that enhance client workflows Contribute to developing scalable, repeatable AI‑enabled service offerings Maintain and improve existing internal and client‑facing applications Debug, troubleshoot, and continuously improve system performance Take full ownership of system lifecycle from design through long‑term maintenance Design and support cloud‑based architecture, particularly within Azure environments Ensure applications are structured for scalability, reliability, and secure data handling Collaborate with leadership to align cloud architecture with long‑term strategy Data, security & complianceDesign systems with data security and privacy in mind for sensitive financial information Implement best practices around data access, storage, and workflow security Support evolution toward SOC‑compliant infrastructure and processes Strategic contribution & department growthWork with leadership to identify high‑impact opportunities for AI and automation Help define processes, standards, and structure for this function as it grows Opportunity to grow into a leadership role as the department expands Qualifications3+ years of experience in automation, systems building, or software development Demonstrated experience building real‑world applications or automations, ideally with a portfolio Experience developing solutions for clients — identifying pain points, designing, and implementing systems Strong ability to break down ambiguous problems and define structured solutions Hands‑on experience with tools such as n8n, ChatGPT / LLM integrations, Notion, APIs, and webhooks Experience with low‑code / no‑code and "vibe coding" tools such as Lovable or similar Experience maintaining and improving production‑level systems Experience with cloud platforms (Azure preferred) Familiarity with data security and compliance concepts (e.g. SOC 2) How you workYou take ownership and follow through without needing constant direction You enjoy building and improving systems, not just launching them You focus on practical, reliable solutions over theoretical ones You are comfortable working with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders You don't just build what's requested — you help define the right problem to solve You think beyond one‑off solutions and look for reusable, scalable patterns You are motivated by building something from the ground up Remote, hybrid, or in‑office (Oshawa, ON) Competitive time off program RRSP matching program Health spending account Educational assistance program About YBL AccountingAt YBL Accounting, we are a team of innovative problem solvers committed to delivering an exceptional client experience.
