This role is responsible for engineering scalable, high-performance Power BI solutions built on governed semantic models and standardized enterprise KPIs.This is not a dashboarding role. It requires deep expertise in semantic model design, advanced DAX optimization, dimensional modeling, and performance tuning.The successful candidate will operate within a medallion architecture (Bronze/Silver/Gold) and collaborate closely with Data Engineering and Analytics Engineering to ensure alignment across ingestion, transformation, modeling, and reporting layers.## Key Responsibilities### Power BI Development & Delivery* Build reusable, scalable report templates* Implement advanced DAX measures aligned to standardized KPI definitions* Optimize performance of semantic models and reports* Support migration of legacy reports into Fabric/Power BI### ### Semantic Model & Data Modelling Collaboration* Design and maintain enterprise Power BI semantic models* Implement star schema models using conformed dimensions* Collaborate with Senior Analytics Engineer on schema design* Ensure consistent use of conformed dimensions and measures* Avoid metric duplication and shadow calculations* Support RLS implementation and governance controls### ### Performance & Governance* Tune DAX and model performance* Implement incremental refresh where appropriate* Maintain alignment with SOX-related controls and documentation standards* Follow Dev/Test/Prod deployment processes* Contribute to BI standards and best practices### ### Business Engagement* Translate business requirements into scalable BI solutions* Partner with Finance, Operations, Retail, and other stakeholders* Support KPI clarification and validation* Improve report usability and adoption## ## Required Qualification### ### Technical Skills* 5+ years experience in Power BI development* Advanced DAX (CALCULATE, context transition, time intelligence, optimization)* Strong understanding of star schema and dimensional modeling* Experience building and managing semantic models* Experience implementing Row-Level Security (RLS)* Strong SQL skills* Experience with Power BI CI/CD, including deployment pipelines, version control, and Dev/Test/Prod promotion.* Experience working in Azure or Microsoft Fabric environment### ### Modelling and Architecture Awareness* Understanding of medallion architecture (Bronze/Silver/Gold)* Ability to work within governed data models* Familiarity with SCD concepts and fact grain principles* Awareness of data governance and compliance considerations### ### Soft Skills* Strong communication skills* Structured problem-solving approach* Ability to balance speed and scalability* Comfortable working in evolving platform environmentTargeted Compensation - $100,000 - $110,000**What Makes SNDL a Great Place to Grow:*** Competitive compensation including performance-based bonuses and annual salary reviews.* Comprehensive health and dental benefits, including a Healthcare Spending Account.* Three weeks of paid vacation with annual rollover.* Flexible, hybrid work arrangements to support work-life balance.* Recognition and rewards programs that celebrate individual and team achievements.* Employee & Family Assistance Program (EFAP) with mental health, financial, and family support.* Employee perks and discounts program, offering savings across fitness, wellness, lifestyle, retail, and everyday services*We are grateful for the interest in this role from all candidates, however, we will be contacting only those that are selected for next steps in the hiring process.***Our Commitment to Diversity & Inclusion***SNDL is an equal opportunity employer.
