This contract role may be a right fit for you.General Description The Construction Officer Level 3 acts as construction site coordinator and inspector on multiple or large civil, electrical, and/or mechanical projects to ensure the work, materials, progress, and cost meet BC Hydro expectations.Advantages This is an opportunity to work with a renowned company at competitive pay rate.Locations and Projects The current portfolio covers locations throughout the Northern and Southern Interior of BC, including Prince George, Smithers, Terrace, and Kitimat. Project types range from new construction, upgrades, and retrofitting of substations, capacitor stations, and new or upgraded transmission line infrastructure across the province.Work Rotations Work rotations are available based on the location of the work and the candidate’s place of residence. Most rotations are a 14‑day work, 7‑day off schedule, with potential for 10‑day on, 4‑day off. Local candidates may have a 5‑day on, 2‑day off schedule, although project schedules may require rotations for adequate project coverage. Travel and accommodations are paid for while engaged on work for the projects/portfolios.ResponsibilitiesDevelop safe engineering solutions by using initiative and judgment to perform tasks including developing designs, analyzing and resolving problems, and interpreting engineering specifications on medium complexity and scope assignments for projects and operations.Assist project or operations management to meet safety, cost, quality, and time objectives by proposing changes in plans and estimated costs, recommending payment for work completed by contractors, preparing progress reports, coordinating work schedules, and other similar tasks.Resolve highly technical and unusual design and field engineering problems by conducting independent studies and analysis, exercising independent judgment in selecting and interpreting information, recommending safe engineering designs to support successful operations and/or project completion.Participate in practice by conducting independent studies and analysis, contributing to the development of technical standards, exercising judgment in selecting and interpreting information, recommending safe engineering designs, and making decisions related to methods and designs as well as providing guidance and advice to other engineering professionals to develop future capability.QualificationsCompletion of a National Diploma of Technology in either Civil & Structural or Electrical from an Institute of Technology, or a relevant trades apprenticeship course, and equivalent of seven (7) years of related construction work experience.Valid Class 5 driver’s licence.Nice to HaveFamiliarity with safety programs.Additional experience in contract management is an asset.Location of Services Northern and Southern Interior of BC.Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Statement Randstad Canada is committed to fostering a workforce reflective of all peoples of Canada.
