About the Opportunity This role reports to the Health Services Manager and plays a vital part in supporting both adult and pediatric cardiac surgery patients at the Halifax Infirmary and the Isaak Walton Killam (IWK) Health Centre, where approximately 1,100 cardiopulmonary bypass procedures are performed annually. Responsibilities Support adult and pediatric cardiac surgery patients as part of the Perfusion Services team. Conduct intra‑aortic balloon pump (IABP) therapy. Manage autologous blood recovery systems. Provide multidisciplinary support for complex procedures, including liver transplants. Qualifications Graduate of an accredited school of Perfusion Technology (students currently enrolled in an accredited program are strongly encouraged to apply). Certification with the Canadian Society of Clinical Perfusion, or Canadian certification eligible (requirement to obtain within the first two years of employment). Certification with the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion with proof of eligibility for Canadian Society of Clinical Perfusion prior to employment (Canadian certification must be obtained within the first two years of employment). Possession of a recognized degree in a science or health care discipline is an asset. Two years of clinical perfusion experience is an asset; recent graduates are encouraged to apply. Experience with adult and pediatric cardiopulmonary bypass procedures is an asset. Must be able to work under pressure and cope in emergency situations while demonstrating strong teamwork skills. Must demonstrate a high degree of self‑development to maintain current and competent service. Preference will be given to candidates with an interest in research and quality assurance development. Competencies in other languages are an asset; French preferred. Hours Permanent, Full‑time positions; 75 hours bi‑weekly. Compensation and Benefits $52.94 - $66.70 hourly.
