Gutmann North America is looking to expand its design team! The Senior Curtain Wall Designer position is a client-facing role within our Pre‑Sales/Pre‑Construction team focused on developing practical, high‑performing curtain wall systems. A Day in the Life Participate in client meetings, provide real-time technical and design input, and propose practical solutions for project-specific challenges. Review project narratives, architectural documents and performance specifications with the Pre‑Sales team to establish the project Basis of Design. Design and develop curtain wall systems from concept through fabrication and installation. Identify and resolve interface conditions between Curtain Wall systems and custom 3rd party products such as GFRC/UHPC, Precast, ACM systems, Louvers, Integrated Lighting systems, etc. Identify and resolve curtain wall detailing, constructability and technical design issues. Prepare, review and oversee technical, shop and fabrication drawings. Ensure designs meets project requirements, constructability standards and applicable codes. Coordinate closely with Estimating, Project Management, Shop Drawings, Fabrication, QC, Engineering and R&D teams. Lead and mentor junior designers and review their technical output. Standardize and maintain product, fabrication, assembly and installation manuals. Ensure all technical requirements are properly incorporated into final design packages. Technical Knowledge Strong understanding of Curtain Wall system performance including: U-Values and thermal performance. IGU makeups and configurations. Air/Water/Structural performance. AAMA / ASTM / CSA / NAFS / NFRC testing standards. Qualifications Minimum 7 years of hands‑on North American Curtain Wall systems design experience. Strong understanding of Unitized and Stick systems. Inventor or 3D modeling experience considered an asset. Strong communication and client‑facing skills.
