Job Description AbbVie is seeking a Medical Science Liaison (MSL) to join our Medical Affairs team in Quebec. The role involves developing and nurturing relationships with external experts (EEs) and advancing scientific credibility across therapeutic areas such as immunology, oncology, neuroscience, vision care, virology, women’s health, and gastroenterology. Key Responsibilities Develop and maintain scientific knowledge to disseminate information to external experts and healthcare professionals (HCPs), fostering professional relationships. Participate in and follow up on investigator-initiated studies (IIS), clinical studies, and medical projects within the relevant therapeutic area (TA). Provide scientific support and maintain relationships with external experts and academic centres. Deliver credible presentations on scientific matters to HCPs, individually or in groups. Participate in the selection process to identify qualified HCPs for engagement in collaborative efforts such as advisory boards, congresses, and symposiums, ensuring high scientific or educational integrity. Attend relevant scientific meetings and conferences, developing summaries of key data presented. Maintain a French working environment in Quebec while meeting English fluency requirements for collaboration outside the province. Qualifications Education / Experience Required Advanced degree: Doctorate, PharmD, or MD. Relevant business experience with solid knowledge of the biotechnology/pharmaceutical industry. Previous experience as an MSL is preferred. Relevant Therapeutic Area background is considered an asset. Experience in a customer‑facing role within the healthcare industry. Experience in presenting and interpreting scientific or clinical research publications. Knowledge of scientific methods applied to clinical research and current legislative/regulatory controls. Keen interest in developing and maintaining expert knowledge for the assigned therapeutic area and medical research in general. Essential Skills & Abilities Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word). Comfortable with technology and various tools/systems to perform day‑to‑day tasks. Travel required about 50% of the time. Valid driver’s license and passport. Key in‑Field Team (IFT) Competencies Understand the unmet needs of key stakeholders and make decisions that impact engagement strategies. Coordinate scientific/medical engagement efforts across stakeholders within a single account, aligning with the Scientific Interaction Plan (SIP) to achieve medical objectives. Execute meaningful strategies and data‑based business decisions to exceed IFT business goals. Effectively communicate, collaborate, and integrate viewpoints of in‑field team members to optimize business objectives.
