We are seeking an experienced Intermediate Design Engineer to support multidisciplinary nuclear engineering projects with a strong emphasis on crane systems, lifting equipment, and material handling applications within regulated nuclear facilities. The successful candidate will contribute to the development, modification, assessment, and execution of engineering design packages in accordance with nuclear industry quality, safety, and regulatory requirements. This role requires demonstrated experience working within the Ontario nuclear industry and possession of an active or previously held OPG Design Engineer (DE) qualification. Key Responsibilities Prepare and review engineering design packages, calculations, drawings, specifications, and technical reports for nuclear facility modifications and refurbishment projects. Support the design, assessment, maintenance, upgrade, and troubleshooting of overhead cranes, hoists, lifting devices, and material handling systems. Perform engineering evaluations related to structural, mechanical, and seismic considerations for crane systems and associated equipment. Interface with multidisciplinary engineering teams, project managers, construction staff, and field personnel to support project execution. Ensure all engineering work complies with applicable codes, standards, station procedures, and nuclear quality assurance requirements. Participate in design change processes, technical reviews, walkdowns, constructability reviews, and field support activities. Provide technical support during installation, commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting activities. Develop engineering change documentation, procurement specifications, and technical recommendations. Support resolution of condition reports, technical queries, and operational issues related to crane and lifting equipment. Maintain strong adherence to nuclear safety culture principles and human performance tools. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline from an accredited university. Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Ontario or eligibility to obtain. Active or previously held OPG Design Engineer (DE) qualification is required. Minimum 5–8 years of relevant engineering experience within the nuclear industry. Demonstrated experience with overhead cranes, hoists, lifting systems, and material handling equipment in industrial or nuclear environments. Strong knowledge of applicable codes and standards including CSA, ASME, CMAA, and nuclear quality requirements. Experience preparing and reviewing engineering calculations and modification packages. Familiarity with nuclear plant configuration management and design change control processes. Ability to perform field walkdowns in operating industrial environments. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to obtain and maintain nuclear security clearance. Preferred Experience Experience supporting refurbishment, maintenance, or life extension projects in nuclear generating facilities. Knowledge of seismic qualification and structural assessments related to lifting equipment. Familiarity with finite element analysis and stress analysis methodologies. Experience supporting procurement, vendor technical reviews, and equipment qualification activities. Previous experience working in a unionized and highly regulated environment. #J-18808-Ljbffr
