Salary: $60,000 - $70,000 based on experience THE VISION Janevca Kitchen & Lounge is embarking on a bold new culinary chapter. We are seeking a creative and disciplined Chef with deep expertise in Asian cuisine to partner directly with our Executive Chef. Together, you will spearhead an extraordinary dish development project: a sophisticated "East-meets-West" menu that artfully blends the soul of Italian traditions with the vibrant techniques and flavors of Asia. This is a rare opportunity to be part of a foundational team, building a unique fusion identity from the ground up while maintaining the high-end standards of our Esquimalt establishment. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Collaborative Development: Partner closely with the Executive Chef to conceptualize, test, and refine a world-class menu that integrates Asian ingredients and techniques with Italian culinary structures. Culinary Execution: Lead the daily production and service of fusion-focused dishes, ensuring meticulous attention to detail, flavor balance, and modern presentation. Team Leadership: Assist the Executive Chef in managing the kitchen brigade, fostering a collaborative environment, and maintaining rigorous service standards. Operational Systems: Help implement and manage kitchen workflows, from inventory and waste control to food safety and labor efficiency. Culture & Consistency: Uphold Janevca’s established reputation for excellence by ensuring the team remains aligned with our core values and guest expectations. QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS Asian Cuisine Specialist: Strong professional background in Asian culinary arts (e.g., Japanese, Chinese, Southeast Asian, or Korean) and a deep understanding of authentic flavor profiles. Creative Versatility: A passion for fusion and the ability to think critically about how different culinary traditions (specifically Italian and Asian) can complement one another. Leadership Experience: Proven ability to work as part of a high-level leadership duo, managing kitchen operations and mentoring staff through new transitions. Hospitality Mindset: Familiarity with high-end lounge or fine-dining environments where consistency and guest experience are paramount. Professional Credentials: Valid FoodSafe certification.
