We look forward to hearing from you.ResponsibilitiesWork independently and as part of a team to complete control and automation engineering design deliverables for a variety of projects.Prepare Control and Automation deliverables, including but not limited to Instrumentation and Control Design Criteria.Develop and maintain Communication design criteria (wireless networks, fiber optic networks).Create and review Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).Prepare procurement packages for instrumentation and plant control system equipment (specifications, technical bid evaluation, vendor data review).Generate Engineering Lists: Instrument Index, I/O Lists, Cable Schedules, material take‑offs.Create Design Deliverables: Interconnection diagrams, Loop Drawings, Layout drawings, Installation drawings, Control Panel Layouts, Control System Architecture.Produce Functional Descriptions and Control Philosophy documents.Program PLC and/or DCS as per project requirements.Develop factory acceptance test and software acceptance test checking procedures.Become knowledgeable about instrumentation and control equipment design, regional codes and standards, various engineering design tools and applications, and Hatch's quality procedures.Work collaboratively in a multi‑discipline environment to deliver the best solution for our clients.Assist senior engineers and designers with their responsibilities, including checking engineering deliverables, attending design reviews, quality reviews, and participating in site inspections and walkdowns.Travel to project sites, including remote locations, when required.QualificationsMust be working towards graduating in 2025, or recently graduated, with a Bachelor of Applied Science, Master of Applied Science, or Master of Engineering from an accredited university in Electrical Engineering.Excel academically while being actively involved in extra‑curricular and/or volunteer activities at school or the community.Interest in Control Systems Engineering and Communication Systems is considered an asset.Previous coop or work terms in controls, automation and electrical engineering design and execution are considered an asset.Technical experience with controls systems design, databases, programming, ability to use data‑centric design tools and proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (SharePoint, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) is preferred.CompetenciesGood understanding of engineering and business fundamentals as they apply to engineering problems and projects.Ability to learn quickly and to take on new challenges.Collaborative team player with excellent interpersonal skills.Excellent organization skills and attention to detail.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Shows critical and creative thinking and problem solving and brings forward solutions for our clients' toughest challenges.Adapts and embraces change.Additional InformationApplicants must submit a transcript (official or unofficial) upon application.BenefitsWork with great people to make a difference.Collaborate on exciting projects to develop innovative solutions.Top employer.Work EnvironmentFlexible work environment.Long‑term career development.Think globally, work locally.If you're interested in this role, we encourage you to apply even if your prior experience does not perfectly align with all listed skills and criteria.Equal Opportunity Statement Hatch is an Equal Opportunity Employer that considers applicants without regard to age, race, color, national origin, citizenship, religion, creed, gender, sexual orientation, marital status, disability, veteran, or any other protected status.
