The St. Paul Municipal Library is committed to fostering literacy, learning, and community connection. The Library Manager leads the library in delivering exceptional services to the community, overseeing daily operations, managing staff, ensuring financial accountability, and driving strategic initiatives that support lifelong learning and engagement. Key Responsibilities Oversee and manage library operations, programs and services Implement policies and procedures under the direction of the Library Board Recruit, supervise, and develop library staff, fostering a collaborative and customer-focused culture Oversee financial operations, including payroll, accounts payable/receivable, and budget reporting Oversee and administer the annual budget; provide regular financial updates to the Board Research, write, and submit grant applications to support library programs and services Maintain and enhance library technology systems and digital resources Collect and analyze usage statistics to inform decision making and improve services Promote the library through outreach, partnerships, and community engagement initiatives Qualifications Minimum two (2) years of experience in a public library setting, including supervisory responsibilities Strong leadership and staff management skills with the ability to train and mentor Awareness of accounting principles and experience managing budgets Proficiency in library technology and basic office software (e.g. Polaris, Microsoft Office - Sage 50 experience an asset) Excellent oral and written communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills Ability to prioritize, multitask, and adapt in a dynamic environment Post-secondary education in Library and Information Studies or related field preferred Work Schedule Thirty-five (35) hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm, with flexibility for occasional evening and weekend hours Salary & Benefits Salary commensurate with education and experience; benefits included The St. Paul Municipal Library is an equal opportunity employer.
