You, too, can become part of our dedicated team in Delta, BC.Manager Powerplant Engineering (Senior Manager optional) Salary: $114,000.00 - $135,000.00Manager Powerplant Engineering is responsible for establishing and amending the engine maintenance workscope to most effectively meet customer requirements, while maximizing engine reliability and on-wing life and minimizing operating costs per hour. He/She is also responsible for developing, implementing and continuously improving technical standards, supporting technically engine maintenance, tests and assisting lean production activities.General responsibilitiesRecruitment and performance management of the powerplant engineering staff, including succession planning, discipline and promotionManage and coordinate the activities of the powerplant engineering department to accomplish the goals identified for the departmentCoordinate the MTU Canada powerplant engineering activities with business strategies in order to improve MTU Canada overall achievementCoordinate the technical and procedural standards for test, repair and overhaul of enginesDevelops the departmental budgets and is accountable for financial results within budget allocationsSet, monitor and report to the Director of Engineering the KPIs for the powerplant engineering department as well for the Continuous Improvement Program; align department KPIs with goals & objectives on corporate and departmental levelEnsure employees are aware of, and compliance with corporate policies and procedures as well as appropriate aviation standardsCommunicate and work with other department to streamline the engineering’s efforts during shop visitsCoordinate training of department employees to ensure multi-tasking is optimized to maintain a high level of technical proficiency, to ensure adherence to the Canadian Ministry of Transport Airworthiness StandardsOperational responsibilitiesCoordinate, coach, monitor, supervise and direct employees on a daily basis to achieve goals and targets in meeting internal and external customer expectations.Define and prepare engine maintenance workscope in accordance with engine history and customer requirement and release the WRB online.Investigate the reasons for in-service engine discrepancies and propose maintenance actions if necessary.Liaise with engine manufacturers and customers on engine problems and work with them to find acceptable solutions.Investigate causes of findings identified by any source including the audit program and take corrective action.Coordinate new customer setup discussions with Customer Support personnel as necessary.Consult and negotiate with clients to prepare specifications, explain proposals and present engineering reports and findings related to customers’ engine shop visits.Develop / Update technical orders, MRBs and Green Pages for deviation handling including review / approval of technical documentations.Provide technical support to test, repair and overhaul operations.Set-up, review and maintain SB/AD baseline.Provide technical support to Engine Trend Monitoring to MTU customer’s.Strategic responsibilitiesAmend engine management programs to maximize engine reliability and on-wing life while minimizing operating costs per hour.Establish engine management programs that define inspection intervals, life management, refurbishment specification, and modification standards.Participate in the Functional Group across location group as chair holder to ensure synergies between the MTU locations worldwide.Participate in the Global MTU Continuous Improvement Network to leverage synergies.Our RequirementsA Master of Engineering Degree (M.Eng.), 5+ years of leadership experience and 5+ years working as an engineer in the aviation industryOr a Bachelor of Engineering Degree (B.Eng.), 5+ years of leadership experience and 8+ years working as an engineer in the aviation industry10+ years a leading role in continuous improvement and lean management activitiesAdvanced knowledge of common engineering based software (e.g. computer-aided design (CAD), computer numeric controlled programming (CNC), etc.)Advanced knowledge of SAP engineering specific functionsAdvanced knowledge of MS OfficeThe Perks (The Good Stuff)Generous Relocation Package available to eligible candidatesWe offer great benefits from your first day (no waiting period)100% match company pensionExtended Medical and Dental ProgramsDisability InsuranceEmployee and Family Assistance ProgramLife InsuranceVision Care and Rx Safety Vision ProgramFree On-site ParkingMTU supports diversity in the workplace, and encourages applications from all qualified individuals including women, members of visible minorities, aboriginal persons, and persons with disabilities.This position may require access to export-controlled goods and technology.
