Build the Platform That Powers the Future of Vehicle Access Location:Toronto (Remote / Hybrid considered)Reports to:FoundersRole Overview We're looking for an experienced developer who wants to spend their time building, not managing. Someone technology-agnostic, comfortable with ambiguity, and excited about taking systems from idea to production. You'll work directly with founders, solve hard problems, own meaningful technical decisions, and help build the platform Roam will run on for the next decade.About Roam Roam is changing how people access cars.We began with flexible monthly vehicle subscriptions — removing the friction, commitment, and hidden costs of traditional ownership. Since then, we’ve expanded into rentals, leasing, and vehicle commerce for both consumers and businesses.Founded in 2020. Backed by Mantella Venture Partners and Mistral Venture Partners. Operating across Ontario (GTA and Ottawa), with plans to expand across Canada over the next few years. What You’ll Build You’ll design and ship core systems end-to-end. Backend, frontend, infrastructure, whatever the problem requires. We value problem-solvers over role boundaries.Examples of real problems:Scheduling and coordinating thousands of vehicles and customers across CanadaInternal tools that allow non-technical teams to operate at scaleVehicle lifecycle systems (acquisition → funding → deployment → maintenance → resale)Multi-system integrations (Stripe, HubSpot, QuickBooks, Dropbox Sign, Slack, and more)Scaling from thousands of vehicles to tens of thousandsBuilding AI systems to set Roam up to be an AI-first business in the coming decadeThese problems sit at the intersection of software, finance, operations, and the physical world. They require strong judgment, thoughtful tradeoffs, and a bias toward pragmatic solutions that work in production. You’ll work directly with founders. You’ll own meaningful technical decisions. You’ll see the business impact of what you ship. Our Approach to AI We believe engineering is changing. As AI becomes increasingly capable of generating production-quality code, the highest leverage shifts to:Designing systems that AI can reason about clearlyBuilding guardrails that maintain quality at speedCreating feedback loops that prevent silent degradationDefining workflows where humans focus on architecture and judgmentAt Roam, you won’t just use AI tools. You’ll help define how an AI-first engineering organization actually operates. This is early and evolving. You will have real influence over how we design, build, and ship in this new environment.TechnologyRuby on RailsReact / Next.jsTailwindAWSPostgresWe integrate deeply with payments, CRM, messaging, contracts, accounting, analytics, and operational systems.Experience with this exact stack is helpful but not required. Strong fundamentals, sound judgment, and the ability to learn quickly matter more.Who Thrives HereStrong hands‑on builder (years matter less than demonstrated capability)Comfortable operating across the stackDesigns systems, not just featuresHigh ownership, low egoComfortable with ambiguity and evolving constraintsOptimizes for real‑world outcomes over theoretical purityGenuinely excited about AI‑augmented developmentIf you need tightly scoped tasks and heavy process, this will feel uncomfortable. If you want autonomy, responsibility, and meaningful impact, it will feel energizing.Compensation & BenefitsUp to \$200K total compensationStock optionsCompany carComprehensive benefits4 weeks paid vacationHybrid flexibilityHow to Apply Send:Your GitHub profileYou LinkedIn profileThe three most meaningful technical challenges you’ve solvedA short note about your background and experienceWe care far more about what you’ve built than what your résumé says.#J-18808-Ljbffr
