Manager, Business Risk Management About the Role As part of the Wealth Business Risk Management team, you will play a critical role in strengthening operational risk practices across Global Wealth Management (GWM). This includes championing the Third-Party Risk Management (TPRM) program, managing self-identified issues, and supporting risk governance to ensure compliance with regulatory obligations and internal standards. Responsibilities Develop an expert understanding of Global Wealth Management business units (brokerages, asset management, estates and trust, private banking, mutual fund dealers, and International Wealth Management), including operational risk management processes, regulatory obligations and risk governance. Provide guidance to Wealth Management business units on operational risk events, process improvements, and outsourcing risk management by proactively identifying, assessing, mitigating, and monitoring risks while delivering key oversight and program assurance. Own and enhance the tracking and monitoring of Management Self-Identified Issues. Assist in the TPRM program for GWM business units by providing expert advice on risks for new contracts, coordinating assessments with control functions, and supporting the contract life cycle management process. Support with execution of Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) and Scenario Analysis. Build and maintain strong relationships with business partners and control functions to integrate risk frameworks and improve business line effectiveness. Support the monthly and quarterly risk committee and board reporting processes. Utilize data analytics tools (Tableau, Power BI) to identify trends, assess risks, and enhance reporting capabilities. Champion a customer‑focused culture and align team goals with GWM and Bank‑wide strategies. Support additional risk management activities such as Operational Risk Events (ORE), New Initiative Risk Assessment (NIRA), and other emerging risk programs as required. Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day‑to‑day activities and decisions. Create an environment in which their team pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values and its Code of Conduct, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day‑to‑day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk. Qualifications University degree in Finance, Commerce, or Business Administration. 5+ years of experience in risk‑related functions (Internal Controls, Operational Risk, or External/Internal Audit) or relevant experience in Wealth Management with demonstrated ability to learn and apply risk management practices. Strong understanding of Wealth Management businesses, products, and regulatory environment. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. A curious, self‑starter mindset with strong problem‑solving skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and influence decision‑making. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio). Professional designations (CPA, CFA) or advanced degrees (MBA) are an asset.
