Overview The Department of Critical Care at the University Hospital of Northern British Columbia (UHNBC) seeks an intensivist. Candidates must be eligible for licensure in British Columbia; preference is given to those with Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada certification or eligibility. Post Details Minimum 0.5 FTE. 8 weeks per year, alternating 24‑hour calls between the two physicians on a Monday‑Sunday schedule. ICU: 10 beds, closed unit, covering all medical and surgical critical care except cardiac surgery and neurosurgery. Responsibilities Provide full intensivist care for all ICU patients, including point‑of‑care ultrasound, bedside tracheostomy, and continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT). Contribute to teaching and training of medical students, residents, and critical care fellows. Participate in leadership, quality improvement projects, and service development such as critical care outreach, tele‑health, and ICU clinic expansion. Qualifications Licensed medical practitioner in British Columbia. Royal College certification in critical care medicine or eligibility for such certification. Experience or dual certification in critical care and anesthesia, emergency medicine, or general surgery preferred. Ability to work 8 weeks per year with 24‑hour on‑call rotations.
