Responsibilities PRIMARY PURPOSE The IT Infrastructure Solution Lead is responsible for overseeing IT infrastructure system design and solution implementation to provide comprehensive solutions, ensuring all technology domains are merged into integrated systems. Leads deployment of infrastructure solutions into production operational environments and ensures operational requirements are being met. This role is also responsible for the supervision and leadership of a team of Design Analysts, providing technical and developmental oversight to direct reports, including working with Manager, Technology Design and Delivery to recruit staff and contract team members as required. Works with a diverse group of internal and external stakeholders to ensure infrastructure requirements are clearly understood and delivered in provided solutions. Key Accountabilities Leads a team of Design Analysts in performing technical design and delivery activities within their respective areas of expertise. Supervises reporting staff including selection, development, training, coaching, and managing performance including conducting performance reviews and administering disciplinary measures. Provides comprehensive and holistic technical oversight of infrastructure solution delivery. Leads deployment of infrastructure solutions into production operational environments; including providing guidance to internal and contracted technical resources performing production delivery tasks. Provides consultative support to Operations and Maintenance teams through escalation processes when specific subject matter expertise is required, Operational support capabilities have been exceeded, and SLA compliance is at risk. Collaborates with technical subject matter experts and other stakeholders to design and deliver complete infrastructure solutions spanning multiple technology domains. Analyzes architectural designs and ensures overall system requirements are being delivered. Builds strong working relationships with a diverse group of internal and external stakeholders. Acts as technical lead and participates in committees and working groups across areas and departments to address specific projects and issues. Ensures that the technical requirements and operational parameters identified through operations transition plans are met prior to production deployments. Proactively identifies, quantifies, and qualifies risks in Infrastructure solutions and identifies mitigation plans to address the risks and implement controls. Ensures security is designed and integrated into new Infrastructure solutions. Proactively identifies opportunities to automate manual Infrastructure and operational procedures. Ensures automation is designed and built into new Infrastructure solutions. Keeps current on emerging technologies and trends within related technology domains. Seeks opportunities and makes recommendations to leverage technology to provide enhanced value to BTS customers. Participates in the development of business cases for identified needs, proposed roadmaps, and future state infrastructure solutions. Participates in the implementation of infrastructure technology prototypes to assess for suitability and potential benefits. Assists stakeholders such as Technology Architects in designing solutions leveraging Infrastructure technologies. Qualifications EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: The requirements for this job are acquired through completion of a bachelor’s degree in Computing science, Computer Systems Engineering or information systems, plus six (6) years of recent related experience in leading design, development and implementation of highly scalable and robust infrastructure solutions in complex and dynamic environments, with experience in infrastructure automation and cloud enablement in a large enterprise environment, including two (2) years’ experience at a supervisory level. Other Requirements Cloud and Data Centre Technologies – servers, storage platforms, converged and hyperconverged infrastructure, operating systems, Active Directory, hypervisors, public cloud services, infrastructure services (DNS, DHCP, IPAM, Certificate Services, PowerShell scripting), automation, data protection, security, and compliance. Networking Technologies – switching, routing, firewalls, load balancers, network protocols and services, network topology, software defined networking, cloud networking, cabling standards, voice networking, high availability. Database and Middleware – database management platforms and advanced configuration (Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle DBMS), SSIS scripting, data movement, access, and protection technologies and methodologies, middleware and ETL, cloud service design and operations, high availability. Experience designing, delivering, and supporting infrastructure solutions with high availability and disaster recovery capabilities that meet business continuity requirements. Leadership, problem-solving, interpersonal, and oral/written/presentation skills. Related professional certifications are desired. Other related industry certifications are assets. Public Cloud certification (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud) is an asset.
