About the Team Information Services & Technology (IST) is the central support group for the university's technological landscape, ensuring the evolution and smooth operation of technology for teaching, learning, research and work at the University of Alberta. Job Description Manager, Endpoint Computing reports to the Director, Digital Infrastructure. This role is in‑person and takes place at North Campus, Edmonton. Responsible for the delivery, performance and continuous improvement of endpoint computing services across the University, leading a team of professionals and a broader team responsible for endpoint support, lifecycle management, and endpoint management platforms. The Endpoint Manager supports institutional objectives by ensuring reliable, secure and efficient endpoint services while fostering a culture of service excellence, innovation and continuous improvement. Responsibilities Manage the Endpoint Support and Endpoint Systems teams focused on the delivery of service to the University. Clearly communicate strategic objectives to Endpoint staff and work to define tactical, operational and short‑term action plans that align with these objectives. Identify operational opportunities; use continuous improvement methodology to manage work and streamline processes. Evaluate current business processes for efficiencies and implement changes. Work collaboratively across Information Services and Technology in the delivery of service and supporting the University. Manage client relationships by building partnerships and addressing concerns in a timely and professional manner. Provide support for enterprise‑wide projects and initiatives. Use critical thinking, discretion, and delegated decision making to identify and resolve complex problems and assignments. Manage the overall operational, budgetary and financial responsibilities of the Endpoint computing program. Keep abreast of changing technology across campus to ensure systems are compatible and up‑to‑date. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree with demonstrated progressive experience in Endpoint Computing (or related diploma with equivalent combination of education, training and experience). Minimum five years of leadership experience, preferably in Endpoint Computing, managing technical teams in an enterprise IT environment. Demonstrated experience in endpoint computing or related IT operations. Ability to think critically, leverage systems thinking and articulate context, with an appreciation for user and customer experience. Experience building and retaining a team of technology professionals that are service and results oriented. Manage diverse computing environments with direct responsibility for the delivery of Endpoint services, hardware and software inventory management, vendor management and workstation services. Knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory and enterprise identity management systems. Knowledge of virtual desktop systems and processes. Strong leadership, coaching and people‑management skills. Strategic thinking and planning capabilities. Financial management and budgeting expertise. Excellent communication, customer, interpersonal and analytical skills. Ability to manage complex operations and competing priorities. Compensation Annual salary range $81,048 to $135,078.
