Our Foster Care program supports children under 18 through temporary, nurturing placements with the goal of returning them home or to a permanent environment. Position Overview We are seeking a Foster Care Program Supervisor to lead our Foster Care program, support the delivery of safe, responsive, and high‑quality care for children and youth, and oversee a skilled team of Family Support Practitioners. Reports to: Program Manager Duties and Responsibilities Program Leadership Lead the delivery of the Foster Care program in alignment with organizational values, policies, accreditation standards, and contractual requirements. Train, supervise, and evaluate Family Support Practitioners. Provide guidance to team in case planning, safety planning, transitions, and day‑to‑day care decisions. Participate in the agency on‑call system and support staff and foster parents during critical incidents. Foster Care–Specific Oversight Support a network of foster homes serving children from infancy through 18. Assist with placement matching, stability planning, and collaboration with Placement and Children’s Services. Attend and support foster parents through case conferences, meetings, investigations, and placement‑related meetings. Organize and facilitate Foster Parent Support and Education Meetings. Ensure children’s cultural identity, community connections, and individual needs are respected and supported. Staff Supervision & Team Development Provide ongoing supervision, coaching, and performance feedback. Support professional development and staff well‑being. Foster a collaborative, safe, and inclusive work environment. Collaboration & Administration Build and maintain professional relationships with Children’s Services, Placement Services, and community partners. Chair program team meetings and contribute to leadership initiatives. Ensure accurate documentation, reporting, and compliance with accreditation standards. Monitor program expenses in collaboration with the Program Manager. Qualifications – Skills – Personality Traits Diploma or degree in Human Services or a related field. Supervisory experience in a human services or child‑focused setting. Significant experience in family work and family systems. Experience working with child development and attachment. Experience supporting children, youth, and families impacted by trauma. Knowledge of Alberta Child Protection legislation (an asset). Current First Aid & CPR. Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search. Clear Alberta Intervention Record Check (required prior to employment). Strong leadership, decision‑making, and communication skills. Calm, thoughtful, and adaptable in complex situations. Collaborative, organized, and values‑driven. Committed to learning, reflection, and inclusive practice. A steady presence with warmth and a sense of humour. Pre‑Employment Background Check Requirements Intervention Record Check (IRC) Criminal Record Check including a Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) Both checks must be completed prior to the employee’s start date.
