Overview As a member of the Royal Canadian Air Force, Construction Engineers provide engineering support such as facilities management, fire engineering, contract and project management, and construction and environmental engineering.ResponsibilitiesPrepare or approve construction drawings, designs and cost estimates.Advise superiors on military engineering matters.Exercise leadership and technical control over organizations involved in engineering services.Provide mapping, charting and geodesic support to sea, land and air operations.Lead and manage a team of skilled personnel.Work Environment Construction Engineers work as part of a Construction Engineering Flight or Unit within the military. They may support Royal Canadian Air Force operations and also Canadian Army operations and missions. Over the course of their careers, they will likely be deployed on domestic or international missions, including UN, NATO or Coalition missions.Regular Force members can expect relocation; Primary Reserve members typically work part‑time in a community reserve unit, with limited relocation requirements.Entry Plans & Training Entry requires a university degree that meets CAF criteria, followed by basic officer training and military officer qualification training. Successful recruits may be paid to complete a bachelor’s program under the Regular Officer Training Plan, receiving full‑time salary, medical and dental care, and vacation pay in exchange for service.Training includes 12 weeks of basic officer training, optional second‑language training, infantry school, and the Canadian Forces School of Military Engineering. Upon completion, officers are qualified to manage infrastructures at bases and plan infrastructure projects for domestic and deployed operations.Part‑Time Opportunities The position is available for part‑time employment with the Primary Reserve at certain locations.
