STOKES LAW LLP - Calgary Family Law Associate We are seeking a skilled and experienced Family Lawyer who has litigation and ADR experience to join our legal team. Preferably three (3) years or more post-call experience. *Note - we are moving to a 4 day work week model - Monday to Thursday. You may work remotely whenever you wish. As a Family Lawyer, you will be responsible for providing legal advice and representation to clients in various family law matters and assisting on existing files. Duties - Provide legal advice and guidance to clients on family law matters, including divorce, parenting, high conflict litigation, ADR, support, and property division. - Conduct legal research to support case preparation. - Prepare legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and agreements. - Represent clients in court hearings, mediations, and negotiations. - Collaborate with other lawyers and external professionals to develop effective legal strategies. - Stay updated on changes in family law legislation and case precedents. - Work collaboratively with a team. Skills To excel in this role, you should possess the following skills: - Strong writing skills to draft clear and concise legal documents. - Excellent negotiation skills to achieve favorable outcomes for clients. - Knowledge of legal drafting techniques to prepare accurate and effective legal documents. - Ability to analyze complex legal issues and provide sound advice to clients. - Be prepared to work on a fee-split model.
