Excel Society is honoured to invite expressions of interest from individuals who are recognised within their communities as Elders or Knowledge Keepers. This individual will support Indigenous and Inuit youth and adults from the Northwest Territories, helping to strengthen cultural identity, connection, and understanding through the sharing of knowledge, teachings, and lived experience. About the Role This role will contribute meaningfully by: Sharing traditional teachings, cultural practices, and spiritual guidance Supporting individuals and staff in understanding Indigenous cultures, histories, and worldviews Facilitating or guiding land-based learning and cultural connection opportunities Promoting respect, awareness, and cultural understanding across the organisation This position is part of a collaborative team dedicated to providing compassionate, person-centred support. Who We Are Looking For We welcome individuals who bring: Recognition as an Elder or Knowledge Keeper within their community Lived cultural knowledge, experience, and respected voice within community Experience supporting or mentoring youth and/or adults Ability to share teachings in ways that are respectful and accessible Understanding of intergenerational trauma, colonisation, and cultural revitalisation Commitment to confidentiality and professional boundaries Experience in community programs or social services is considered an asset but is not required.
