POSITION OVERVIEW The Pedagogical Lead (Montessori) plays a critical leadership role within The Learning Nest Academy (LNA) by guiding the operational and educational excellence of assigned classrooms. Reporting to the Centre Director, the Pedagogical Lead is responsible for mentoring and coaching educators, while holding them accountable to program standards and Montessori implementation. This role ensures a high-quality learning environment, actively monitors and enforces adherence to Montessori practices and fosters professional development among team members. The Pedagogical Lead serves as a subject matter expert in Montessori pedagogy and a role model for staff, children, and families, demonstrating professionalism, collaboration, and best practices in early childhood education. This role is accountable for ensuring that LNA’s standards for curriculum, safety, and program quality are consistently achieved across all programs. EXCLUSIVE PERKS Competitive wages and vacation allowance Opportunities for career advancement Fully reimbursed RECE membership dues Group Benefits including Health, Dental, AD&D, Life and Health Care Spending Account Corporate discount and perks program Onsite – This role requires in-person work at a designated LNA location KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Collaborate with the Centre Director to assess and maintain a high-quality educational environment using standard and LNA-specific evaluation tools, including alignment with Montessori principles and prepared environment standards Provide mentorship and coaching to educators, supporting their professional development and growth, with an emphasis on Montessori philosophy, materials, and classroom practice Lead and ensure consistent implementation of best practices in early childhood education, including Montessori-aligned approaches (i.e. child-led learning, respect for independence, intentional observation, etc.) and role-model positive and respectful communication with children, families, and colleagues Maintain compliance with the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA) and health and safety regulations Ensure that team members deliver age-appropriate programming that supports cognitive, physical, social, and emotional development, including alignment with Montessori developmental stages and individualized learning Oversee the completion of daily observation and ensure child records are updated and maintained regularly, using observation practices that inform Montessori lesson planning and child progression Foster an inclusive environment that values diverse cultures and supports emotional well-being, aligned with Montessori values of respect, belonging, and holistic development Facilitate and participate in professional development opportunities, including LNA’s internal training and external workshops Build strong relationship with families by maintain open, honest, and professional communication Engage with Ministry staff and other regulatory bodies during inspections, ensuring compliance and preparedness Other duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience Required education level: Montessori Certification (AMI, AMS, or MACTE-accredited program) Years of relevant experience: Minimum 2 years experience working in early years education. Experience across multiple age groups is considered an asset Technical Skills & Certifications Strong knowledge of the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA) requirements and regulations Valid Food Handler Certification is an asset Soft Skills Collaboration – Works effectively with others, fosters teamwork, and values diverse perspectives.
