Overview As an Intermediate Civil or Geotechnical Engineer, you will work on large‑scale, technically challenging world‑class projects with a leading geoscience, engineering, and environmental consulting firm in Alberta and beyond. The role involves geohazard engineering for highways, dam design and safety, and water design for power generation, irrigation, and mining. Responsibilities Work on highway geohazard projects involving site investigations, ground hazard identification, assessment, and mitigation design, including earth and rock slope design, erosion control, and annual geotechnical instrumentation programs. Develop power generation, irrigation, and mining water design, assessment, and risk mitigation projects with hands‑on experience in dams, spillways, dam safety reviews, inspections, instrumentation installation, and related data analysis. Collaborate in a multidisciplinary team with environmental scientists, permitting specialists, hydrotechnical engineers, structural and mechanical engineers. Travel throughout Alberta and potentially for international mining work. Qualifications Registered as a Professional Engineer in Canada with a Bachelor or Master’s degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering. Minimum of five years of related experience. Experience with highway and railway geohazards. Experience with dam engineering and dam safety projects for hydropower, thermal, mining, and irrigation clients and familiarity with dam safety guidelines and industry standards. Proven project management and design/analysis skills, including drafting drawings and specifications for tenders. Ability to review and interpret geotechnical instrumentation data. Strong initiative, innovation, and commitment to technical excellence. Leadership, decision‑making, and coaching skills, including training and mentoring young professionals. Excellent written and verbal communication, with experience writing proposals, technical reports, and project correspondence. Superior teamwork, interpersonal skills, and long‑term relationship building. Business acumen and ability to grow client relationships.
