Overview The Associate Director, Product Control role involves managing and leading a team of analysts to ensure that daily financial reporting is accurate and signed‑off by the Front Office. The employee acts as the main liaison with Global Middle Office, Head Office Finance, Information Technology, Trading, Sales, Operations, Processing, Valuations and other units related to the Derivatives group. The AD must ensure all daily and monthly accounting, reconciliations and attestations are performed accurately and complete, and provide responses to requests from the Front Office, Risk, Valuations and Financial Control. The AD also assesses process impact, streamlines activities, and actively participates in broader initiatives sponsored by the bank. Responsibilities Build and lead a high‑performing team in a demanding technical environment with significant operational risk of error. Manage and mentor a team of co‑op students, analysts, senior analysts and managers. Develop and encourage ongoing technical training within the team. Execute change management while keeping employees focused on business priorities. Represent Product Control in meetings as business lead for specific projects involving Front Office, IT, Finance initiatives. Develop and implement a strategic plan for consistent support across all business units through staff cross‑training. Ensure all reconciliations and attestation packages are complete in a timely fashion, with issues escalated and resolved effectively. Act as backup to the Director of Derivatives Product Control. Ensure that daily sign‑off is obtained by the Front Office in a timely fashion. Manage a team of analysts who perform risk‑based decompositions to explain the P/L. Manage information flow of all trading activity in accordance with standing orders to ensure business partners receive relevant information. Attest to all monthly accounting entries to the G/L and conduct reconciliations to ensure figures are properly tied back to the systems of record. Review and sign off on daily and monthly procedure manuals and documentation to confirm completeness and currency. Maintain a solid knowledge base of how various products are handled by all source trading systems and downstream dependent systems. Qualifications 5+ years of Product Control experience in a derivatives environment. Strong leadership, analytical, problem‑solving, communication and people‑management skills. Project Management experience and strong change‑management mindset. University degree and CA/CMA/CGA/CPA/CFA (or equivalent experience). Accounting knowledge for on‑ and off‑balance sheet products. Advanced understanding of procedures and operational controls as they relate to trading systems and workflows. Proficiency in Excel, Access and Word. Ability to work in a demanding environment with tight deadlines; effectively and reliably under pressure. Ability to work independently with minimal guidance from the director. Ability to make decisions and deal effectively with multiple stakeholders.
