Responsibilities Working under the direction of National Director Ethics and Independence. Serve as a resource for engagement teams on complex independence matters and assist with supporting documentation for the assurance file. Work closely with senior stakeholders and the marketing teams, support the process of identification, documentation and approval of marketplace business relationships. Monitor developments in Canadian and international independence standards and perform the initial impact assessment. Provide guidance to firm integrations team on independence matters as required. Assist the National Director Ethics & Independence with: Managing the long association of partners performing public company audit engagements process. The identification and implementation of opportunities for process improvement and leveraging technology. Provide support to the Manager, Global Independence System in high volume periods. Develop and update internal policies, communications and training content, and sometimes present content on independence matters. Assist in motivating, coaching and developing members of the National Ethics and Independence team. Read our colleagues’ stories at Qualifications 4+ years of experience in a CPA firm, in a quality or risk management position, or in a similar practice or function. CPA designation is an asset. Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Business or Law. Strong understanding of services provided by a CPA firm. Ability to research and understand external regulations or guidance produced by IESBA, Canadian provincial CPA Institutes, AICPA, PCAOB, and the SEC. Ability to build relationships and establish trust with individuals at all levels, including the leaders, at the Firm through superior verbal and written communication and negotiation skills. A love of working both independently and as part of a supportive and collaborative team in a fast paced, agile and unstructured environment. Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize and execute multiple assignments. Ability to handle sensitive/confidential information appropriately. Team player and ability to work with others to accomplish a common goal. Our salary ranges are reviewed annually, and where you land within the range depends on a mix of factors—your background, your skills, and how your contributions align with internal equity . To help start the conversation, the current salary range for this role is $110,000–$151,300 in Toronto.
