Job Summary Job Title: Family Practice – Inpatient Care and Emergency Medicine Physician Work Site: Sechelt Hospital Status: Permanent Full-Time Start Date: As Soon As Possible Compensation Type: LFP Fee-for-Service (FFS) – Inpatient Care Alternate Payment Plan (hourly rate distributed by group agreement) - ER Come work as a Family Practice – Inpatient Care and Emergency Medicine Physician with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH)! This position is for a permanent full-time Family Practice and Emergency physician beginning as soon as possible, to provide a combination of Inpatient Care Coverage and ER shift coverage at Sechelt Hospital. The Family Practice (Inpatient Care) role includes the admission of new, unassigned, and unattached patients through the Emergency Department (ED); comprehensive patient rounding and stabilization at the end of the day; and responding to urgent, non-code calls for patients admitted to the site. Successful applicants will join a new group of Inpatient Care physicians and participate in an on‑call rotation (approximately 1:3), from 5 pm to 10 pm only, with 5‑7 day work weeks. Candidates should have a strong interest in integrating and developing their acute care/inpatient care practice within the Sechelt Hospital team. Remuneration for your activities within the inpatient care services will be through the Longitudinal Family Physician (LFP) payment model. The ER role would include a minimum of 4 ER shifts per month, encompassing a variety of shift hours as required (including 8‑15; 11‑19, 15‑22; 22‑8), with an additional 2 “Sick Call” shifts per month providing 24‑hour availability for coverage of a colleague on short‑notice, or to attend to major events requiring an additional physician. The intention would be to shift between these roles on a week‑by‑week basis, with sufficient flexibility to accommodate the needs of both the ER and inpatient care groups, and the successful candidate. This would average 30 hours per week and constitute full‑time work in our community. Qualifications Education, Licensing, & Experience Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) – Mandatory Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) – Mandatory Current College of Physicians of BC (CPSBC) – Full Canadian College of Family Practitioners (CCFP) or completed family medicine training accredited by either the ACGME or the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), and certification with either the American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians (AOBFP) or the American Board of Family Medicine – Mandatory Canadian College of Family Practitioners (CCFP) – Emergency Medicine – Desired Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) – Mandatory Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) – Mandatory Emergency Experience – Mandatory CARE course certification is an acceptable alternative to ACLS, ATLS, and PALS Closing Statement Interested in applying?
