Lead Electrical Designer (VAN00KB) Company: Worley Lead Electrical Designer – responsible for electrical design activities across small to medium-sized projects and work packages. Provides technical and design leadership, mentoring a small design team, and ensures high-quality, constructible, and cost-effective electrical designs. Key Responsibilities Lead the development and delivery of electrical design deliverables, including layouts, routing, installation drawings, cable tray and conduit layouts, lighting, grounding, earthing, and hazardous area layouts. Provide technical guidance and oversight to Electrical Designers and Design Technologists. Review and check design deliverables for quality, constructability, and compliance with project standards, codes, and specifications. Ensure designs comply with applicable codes and standards (e.g., CSA, NEC, IEC, client standards, and project-specific requirements). Support Electrical Engineers with the interpretation and implementation of design requirements into detailed drawings and models. Lead a small team of Electrical Designers, coordinating daily design activities and priorities. Plan and assign work, monitor progress against schedule and budget, and proactively identify and resolve resourcing or delivery risks. Act as the primary design point of contact for the electrical discipline on assigned projects or work packages. Participate in project planning, design reviews, model reviews, and interdisciplinary coordination meetings. Interface with construction, procurement, and commissioning teams to support constructability and execution planning. Coordinate closely with other discipline leads and designers (piping, civil/structural, mechanical, instrumentation, and process) to ensure integrated, clash-free designs. Support 3D model coordination and interdisciplinary design reviews. Incorporate client feedback and manage design changes in accordance with project change management processes. Promote a strong safety culture in design, including consideration of safe access, maintenance, and constructability. Support continuous improvement of design standards, tools, templates, and workflows within the Electrical discipline. Contribute to the development and mentoring of junior designers through coaching and technical guidance. Qualifications & Experience Diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Electrical Design, or a related discipline. Extensive experience in electrical design within engineering, EPC/EPCM, or industrial project environments. Demonstrated experience leading small to medium-sized electrical design teams or acting as a discipline design lead on projects. Strong experience delivering electrical design for industrial facilities such as oil & gas, chemicals, mining, power, or infrastructure projects. Proficiency with industry-standard design tools and platforms (e.g., AutoCAD, SmartPlant, AVEVA E3D, Revit, or similar 3D design tools). Strong understanding of electrical systems layout and installation, including cable management systems, grounding/earthing, lighting, and equipment layouts. Familiarity with relevant electrical codes, standards, and best practices (CSA, NEC, IEC, client standards). Strong ability to interpret engineering documentation, datasheets, specifications, and vendor drawings. Leadership & Interpersonal Skills Proven ability to lead, mentor, and coordinate the work of designers within a project environment. Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across disciplines and with project leadership and clients. Well‑organized, proactive, and capable of managing competing priorities in a fast‑paced project environment. Salary & Benefits For applicants based in the province of British Columbia, the salary range is $139,678 to $160,630.
