Under the alliance model, Aecon provides construction capability and resources as part of an integrated team, working collaboratively with all alliance participants to progress design, cost, and construction schedules during the project’s development phase.We are currently seeking aCost Controllerwith experience inutilities, transit, or heavy civil infrastructure projectsto support cost management, forecasting, and reporting activities across this program. This position reports to the Project Controls Director and works closely with project teams, finance, scheduling, procurement, and commercial management.What You Will Do Here:Support proposal, estimating, and project start‑up activities to ensure alignment between approved estimates, budgets, and cost baselinesDevelop and maintain the Cost Breakdown Structure (CBS), cost accounts, and budget distribution aligned to utilities, civil, and systems scopesEstablish and maintain project cost control systems, including Earned Value Management (EVM), rules of credit, KPIs, and dashboardsEnsure compliance with client and public‑sector reporting requirements, including progress reporting, KPIs, and payment milestonesCoordinate with Scheduling to align resource planning, cost performance, and baseline schedulesPrepare and maintain project cash flow forecasts in coordination with FinancePerform cost variance analysis and reforecasting using actuals, progress, and EVM metricsAudit cost allocations and expenditures, including payroll, subcontractor invoices, and supplier charges; recommend corrective actions as requiredWork with Finance to monitor cash position and support billing, invoicing, and payment certificationFacilitate risk and contingency reviews, including adjustments related to utility interfaces, third‑party impacts, and scope changesSupport procurement and subcontract cost management, including purchase orders, commitments, and project close‑outMaintain the Change Management system, including change tracking, impact analysis, and support to the commercial teamLead internal cost reporting and ensure alignment with client reporting cyclesDevelop and maintain a project‑specific Project Controls Plan in alignment with Aecon standardsContribute to continuous improvement of project controls processes, templates, and toolsCapture and document lessons learned for future utilities and transit projectsWhat you Bring to the Team:4–7 years of Project Controls experience, preferably in utilities, transit, rail, or heavy civil infrastructurePost‑secondary diploma or degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent experienceStrong applied knowledge of Earned Value Management (EVM), cost engineering, and cost control practicesWorking knowledge of project management and project controls principlesExperience working in SAP environmentsAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; Visio is considered an assetIntermediate to advanced proficiency in Primavera P6Ability to read, analyze, and manipulate schedules, curves, and progress reportsStrong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced project environmentExcellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across project teams and stakeholdersDetail‑oriented, analytical, and customer‑focusedCommitment to continuous learning and professional developmentReason for the vacancy: NewThe expected pay range for this role is: $70,000 - $100,000 per yearIndividual pay is determined based on several factors, including work location, education, experience, unique skills and job conditions.
