Actuarial Consultant or Senior Actuarial Analyst – Commercial Lines Pricing Excellence Wawanesa is seeking an experienced actuarial professional to join the Commercial Lines Pricing Excellence team. The role involves building data, model, and reporting foundations that enhance pricing sophistication and portfolio management across all commercial pricing functions. Salary Estimated range: $80,000 – $130,000 annual. Job Responsibilities Research, extract, and manipulate complex data from relevant sources, assessing data quality. Support the business and team by performing analyses, reviews, and completing ad‑hoc requests or special projects in a timely manner with support from peers and leaders. Evaluate procedures and processes, proposing potential alternatives or improvements. Identify areas for increased efficiency within existing processes. Identify opportunities for automation of routine tasks. Suggest new approaches to problem solving and assess impacts of solution options with guidance from leaders. Maintain knowledge of current industry news and trends, considering their impact on Wawanesa. Represent Wawanesa at external events such as universities, actuarial clubs, industry organizations, and charitable causes. Commit to professional development and continuous experiential learning to build cross‑functional knowledge, technical skills, and mastery in competencies. Provide regular project updates to stakeholders. Build trust with teams around the actuarial function; know when to seek others’ expertise. Contribute to the mentorship, training, and development of actuarial analysts. Review peers’ analysis and provide thoughtful feedback on reasonableness, completeness, and accuracy. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related discipline. More than two years of actuarial experience. Working toward ACAS designation; 4 CAS exams an asset. Advanced knowledge of actuarial science, mathematics, probability, statistics, finance and business principles, and strong ability to apply this knowledge to insurance problems. Proactive identification of issues and initiation of actions. Strong attention to detail when performing analysis with minimal technical errors. Strong oral and written communication skills; able to convey complex business and actuarial terminology and insights effectively. Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Python, SQL, R, and/or other related software/programming languages. Experience with machine learning techniques an asset. Experience working with AWS tools such as S3, Athena, Redshift, and Glue, or equivalent tools in a different cloud environment an asset. Experience in Commercial Pricing an asset.
