Position Overview The Continuous Improvement and Lean Manager leads BWXT Medical’s Continuous Improvement (CI) and Lean transformation strategy, ensuring operational excellence through structured problem‑solving, lean system deployment, and coaching. The Manager oversees the BWXT Medical Operational Excellence program and drives impactful improvements that enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and strengthen operational performance across all departments. Location On‑site in Kanata, Ontario. Your Day to Day as a Continuous Improvement and Lean Manager Works with cross‑functional teams to deliver measurable improvements aligned with company objectives. Set the vision, priorities, and roadmap for CI & Lean within BWXT Medical. Manage, coach, and develop CI & Lean Specialists, ensuring strong technical capability and effective project execution. Allocate resources, assign projects, and remove barriers to progress. Establish standard work, deployment processes, and governance for CI activities. Lead talent development, succession planning, and performance management of the CI team. Lead Kaizen events that deliver sustainable results and build organisational capability. Prioritise opportunities with leadership using data‑driven selection criteria. Approve Kaizen scopes, charters, and expected outcomes. Guide the preparation, facilitation planning, and execution standards. Mentor Specialists and/or facilitate events and ensure consistent post‑event follow‑up. Drive adoption of structured problem‑solving (A3, 8D, root cause analysis). Deliver measurable improvements in throughput, lead time, cost, productivity, and quality. Sponsor and oversee major CI projects (VSM, process flow redesign, bottleneck elimination). Validate data, analysis methods, and improvement recommendations from the team. Ensure alignment with operations, supply chain, engineering, EHS, and quality. Partner with leaders to close performance gaps and embed new processes into daily management systems. Maintain standardised, transparent KPIs that drive Lean behaviours and operational performance. Lead deployment of Lean performance metrics. Drive automation and digitisation of CI reporting where feasible. Facilitate cross‑functional performance reviews and ensure actions are taken. Support analytics, statistical analysis, and business process reviews. Create a culture where employees and leaders routinely apply Lean principles to improve work. Produce the Best Practice Lean vision, strategy, policies, and procedures to aid operational performance. Provide expertise, professional advice, and guidance to the business from proven industry practice and methodologies. Define, develop, and publish business improvement process documentation to reflect best practice. Train and coach other employees and leaders with Lean Methodologies. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is required. Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma certification is preferred. At least 8 years of related experience in manufacturing; experience in pharmaceutical/medical manufacturing is a plus. Strong facilitation, coaching, executive communication and change‑management skills. Experience with analytics, industrial and manufacturing engineering methods, and KPI systems. Salary The base salary range for this position in Ontario (CA‑ON) at the start of employment is expected to be between $108,000.00 and $158,000.00 per year. The base salary may vary based on local market factors and candidate qualifications. Total compensation may include an annual cash incentive and full range of medical, retirement, and other benefits.
