You will take ownership of complex mechanical design challenges, from concept through build, contributing directly to the development of cutting-edge CNC machining centers and custom turnkey solutions. This is a hands-on, high-impact role for engineers who bring both technical depth and a genuine love of precision manufacturing.Key ResponsibilitiesLead the design of mechanical components and systems for large-format CNC milling machines, from concept to production-ready drawingsPerform 3D CAD modelling in SolidWorks and conduct FEA analysis (static and dynamic) to validate designs before buildCreate detailed manufacturing drawings with rigorous application of GD&T standardsDesign custom fixtures, workholding solutions, and specialized automation components for end-user applicationsContribute to R&D initiatives for new machine accessories and processes specific to large machine tool platformsCollaborate with Manufacturing, Service, Sales, and Marketing teams to drive design improvements and resolve field issuesWork directly with vendors to develop strong supplier relationships and resolve technical issuesOrganize and lead design reviews, documenting decisions and managing design changes through the ECO processSupport the Service team in retrofitting and upgrading legacy equipmentParticipate in hands-on work alongside manufacturing and assembly teams to validate designs in practiceRequired Qualifications5–10 years of machine design or industrial automation design experienceBachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or equivalentExpert-level SolidWorks: 3D modelling, SolidWorks Simulation, and assembliesDemonstrated experience with structural FEA (static and dynamic)Proficiency in GD&T and detailed 2D drawing creationProven ability to design complex mechanical systems with high precision requirementsStrong problem-solving skills for multi-variable engineering challengesExperience working in an ISO-certified engineering environmentAbility to travel internationally (US travel required)AssetsBackground in large-format or heavy equipment designHands-on experience with CNC machining, welding, or casting processesProficiency in hydraulic and pneumatic system designExperience with metal additive manufacturingKnowledge of CAM softwareExperience with machine tool spindle, axis, or drive system designWhat You BringDeep mechanical intuitionA patient, thorough design processStrong understanding of manufacturing and machining processesExcellent communication skills, written and verbalA collaborative approach with cross-functional teams across the businessWhat We OfferCompetitive base salary ($70,000 – $90,000) with performance bonusCompany pension with RRSP matching and profit sharingDental, vision, extended health care, and life insuranceEmployee assistance programOn-site parkingBeyond the package, you’ll work alongside a highly skilled team in a collaborative, precision-focused environment and see your designs built, shipped, and running in manufacturing plants around the world.
