Job Summary The Value-Added Services Engineer provides a mix of technical expertise, program management and sales development to assigned customers. This position will provide technical expertise to support customers and grow value added sales. The Value-Added Services Engineer is responsible for reviewing, estimating, and quoting of customer specific prints. Additionally, the position will support the overall program and relationships management associated with assigned customers. Responsibilities Use technical knowledge to determine a purchase order cost. Ensure that the company is capable of producing to customer print specifications and that sub-contractor requirements (plating, heat treat, grinding, etc.) and quality requirements are documented. Monitor and analyze project cost estimates, expenditures, and forecasts. Assure machine parts are processed to specification using tools appropriate for the application. Accurately read and interpret engineering drawings and work instructions to ensure machined parts meet all customer quality specifications. Assist with identifying measuring instruments or gauges to assure conformance to all quality specifications. Assist and identify tooling and fixturing requirements to process to customer specification as necessary. Process notes according to customer work order specifications. Verify that product meets specifications per written customer instructions and assist with quality sampling plan criteria. Communicate with appropriate sales representative regarding changes or clarification to orders. Make recommendations to improve processes in the manufacturing area. Build customer relationships to support the sales growth of the program. Balance the immediate workload, recognizing when help is needed and when to be a team player to dig right in and assist or direct others. Provide feedback regarding machine efficiency and product quality. Understand quality checks for machine operation to insure proper function. Complete job responsibilities in a manner that does not put self or others in an unsafe situation. Maintain communication with all parties/departments involved and ensure pricing reflects company goals and objectives. Train and mentor others when required. Assist in any activities related to lean and/or quality. Handle complex issues and perform work with minimal supervision. Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or equivalent experience plus a minimum of 5 years’ engineering or program management experience. Ability to read prints including understanding of GD&T. Understanding of customer quality requirements. Ability to conduct prototypes, PPAPs, and FAI submissions. Exceptionally good project management and/or spreadsheet skills. 2 years CAD/CAM experience. Engineering background. Organizational and planning ability, managing multiple concurrent projects. Understanding of machining processes. Preferred Requirements Metal distribution experience. Programming and machine knowledge related to CAD/CAM processes. Previous customer quoting background with large part packages in excess of 100 parts.
