Position Overview We are looking for an experienced Senior Sitecore Architect who can bridge business requirements and technology implementations to deliver best-in-class digital experience solutions. The Senior Sitecore Architect is one of the core leadership roles across our implementations — combining the expertise of a Technical Architect, Platform Subject Matter Expert, and Engagement Leader. This role owns the design of all functional and technical aspects of Sitecore-based solutions throughout the delivery lifecycle and provides proper hand-off and sign-off into production environments. The ideal candidate is a self-directed leader with deep Sitecore platform expertise, strong client-facing communication skills, and the ability to guide development teams through complex, large-scale implementations. Key Responsibilities • Lead the architecture, design, and delivery of Sitecore-based digital experience solutions that bridge business and technology requirements, ensuring usability, accessibility, and performance • Serve as the primary Sitecore subject matter expert on client engagements, providing technical leadership across all project phases — from discovery through production • Define detailed technical specifications, solution architecture, and integration patterns in collaboration with project managers, business analysts, and QA teams • Establish and enforce development best practices, conduct code reviews, and mentor senior and mid-level Sitecore developers • Identify opportunities to grow client business through technology-enabled marketing strategies and deliver short-, medium-, and long-term technology roadmaps • Develop and present innovative platform strategies to client senior leadership, including new technology adoption, platform upgrades, and operational efficiency improvements • Support Merkle business development teams during the pre-sales process — developing technical solutions, effort estimates, and platform recommendations for proposals and RFPs • Lead technical discussions and architecture reviews with client stakeholders, including senior leadership and technical leads • Own the design of integrations with third-party marketing and commerce platforms including CRM, marketing automation, analytics, and personalization tools • Provide oversight on project setup, environment configuration, production deployments, and go-live readiness • Prepare and deliver technical documentation, architectural diagrams, and executive-level presentations throughout the engagement Experience • 8+ years of total .NET/C# development experience • 6+ years of hands-on Sitecore platform experience, including complex multi-site, multi-language implementations • 4+ years in an architect or technical lead capacity, owning solution design and leading development teams • Demonstrated experience leading large-scale Sitecore implementations through the full project lifecycle — including scoping, estimation, timeline management, and budget accountability • Proven experience with Sitecore platform migrations, upgrades, and re-platforming engagements Required Technical Skills Sitecore Platform • Deep expertise in Sitecore Experience Platform (XP), Sitecore Experience Manager (XM), and Sitecore XM Cloud • Proficiency with Sitecore Headless (JSS), Sitecore Experience Accelerator (SXA), and Sitecore Content Hub • Experience with Sitecore personalization, xDB / xConnect, and campaign/goal configuration • Sitecore certification strongly preferred (Sitecore 9+ or 10+) Development & Architecture • Expert-level .NET C# and ASP.NET MVC/Core development • Strong command of HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript frameworks (React, Angular, or Vue) • Architecture patterns: microservices, headless/decoupled CMS, composable architecture • REST and GraphQL API design and integration; experience with SAML and SSO patterns • Understanding of containerization and cloud-native deployment (Azure, AWS) Integration & Ecosystem • Integration experience with CRM and marketing platforms: Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Microsoft Dynamics, HubSpot • Tag management experience: Google Tag Manager, Tealium, Ensighten • Web analytics platforms: Adobe Analytics, Google Analytics 360 • Personalization and optimization: Sitecore Personalize, Optimizely, Adobe Target • eCommerce integration experience (Magento, Salesforce Commerce Cloud, or similar) DevOps & Tooling • Experience with CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps • Source control: GitHub, Bitbucket • Project tracking and documentation: Jira, Confluence, Smartsheet • Database: SQL Server, MySQL Nice-to-Have Skills • Sitecore Content Hub (DAM/MRM/PCM) architecture experience • Experience with Sitecore OrderCloud or composable commerce integrations • Familiarity with Adobe Experience Manager or Drupal/Acquia for cross-platform client advisory • BI and reporting tools: Tableau, Power BI • Email platform experience: Oracle Responsys, Salesforce Marketing Cloud • Decisioning platforms: Pega • Media platforms: Google DV360 • Frontend: React, Node.js, Angular Core Competencies Technical Leadership Guides development teams through complex architecture decisions; sets and enforces engineering standards Client Communication Translates technical concepts clearly for both executive stakeholders and development teams Solution Design Owns end-to-end architecture with a focus on scalability, performance, and maintainability Mentorship Coaches and develops mid-level and senior developers; conducts code reviews and shares platform expertise Estimation & Scoping Accurately scopes complex Sitecore engagements; supports pre-sales effort estimation and RFP responses Agile Delivery Experienced operating within Scrum/Agile frameworks; leads technical workstreams with minimal oversight
