Territorial Manager, Health, Safety and Emergency Preparedness Reporting directly to the Director of Corporate Services, the Territorial Manager oversees the Health, Safety and Emergency Preparedness Unit, ensuring a healthy, safe and secure environment for departmental staff, students, and other stakeholders within Nunavut’s education system. Responsibilities Ensure compliance with the Public Service Act, Safety Act, Education Act, Emergency Measures Act and related legislation, policies and directives. Maintain and promote the health, safety, security and well‑being of employees, workers, facilities, students and other relevant departmental stakeholders. Lead the department’s strategic planning, management and administration of health, safety and emergency preparedness activities. Collaborate with internal and external partners, including other government departments and regional stakeholders, to support the department’s objectives. Provide support and guidance to departmental and regional staff and stakeholders across the territory. Participate in relevant committees and adhere to the Project Management Process Administrative Directive. Qualifications Recognized degree in business administration, science or related field plus five (5) years of directly related work experience. At least one (1) year of supervisory experience. Diploma or certificate in occupational health and safety or a master’s degree in a related field considered an asset. Proficiency in Inuit, English and French; fluency in multiple Nunavut official languages is an asset. Demonstrated knowledge of Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuit communities and culture, and experience in a northern cross‑cultural environment. Highly Sensitive Position – satisfactory Criminal Record Check and clear Vulnerable Sector Check required. Additional Requirements Priority granted to Nunavut Inuit who self‑identify as enrolled under the Nunavut Agreement.
