Business Development Manager – Montreal Imperial Tobacco Canada – a member of the BRITISH AMERICAN TOBACCO GROUP – has an exciting opportunity for a Business Development Manager in Montreal. The role is responsible for leading early‑stage inorganic growth initiatives by identifying, shaping, and advancing opportunities across acquisitions, partnerships, and new business models. It involves scanning core business categories, developing and testing strategic hypotheses, and translating opportunities into clear, actionable business cases. Key Responsibilities Identify and evaluate growth opportunities across core business categories and products Develop and refine strategic hypotheses, challenging assumptions to support high‑quality decision making Partner with Marketing and Finance to develop business cases supporting commercial decisions (market sizing, financial modeling, strategic fit) Champion opportunities internally, securing cross‑functional buy‑in (Marketing, Finance, Legal, Regulatory, Operations) Lead execution and coordination for the integration of new product introductions (NPIs) delivered through the Business Development function Understand, define, and monitor the competitive landscape, startups, and emerging trends Coordinate cross‑functional stakeholder alignment and manage dependencies across workstreams Prepare and manage content for Steering Committee and Leadership Team updates Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Management, or related area 5+ years of experience in a global FMCG or similar dynamic operating environment Experience in business development, strategy, consulting, or commercial roles (background in M&A or corporate development is a plus, not a requirement) Experience in strategic analysis, execution, performance metrics, project evaluation, and commercial acumen Strong interpersonal skills, self‑motivated, and able to influence effectively Ability to simplify complex situations and synthesize and present complex information Demonstrated fluency using AI tools (e.g., LLMs) to accelerate research and analysis Fluency in English; French is an asset What We Offer Market leading annual performance bonus (subject to eligibility) Benefits vary by country and include diverse health plans, work‑life balance initiatives, transportation support, and a flexible holiday plan with additional incentives (subject to eligibility) Your journey with us isn’t limited by boundaries; it’s propelled by your aspirations.
