We are proud to be the steward of Canadian CANDU nuclear technology.The department of Probabilistic Safety Analysis at AtkinsRéalis (Candu Energy) is engaged in probabilistic safety analysis (PSA) in support of existing and new CANDU Nuclear Power Plants, both domestic and international.Senior Probabilistic Safety Analysis Analyst The incumbent will work with other junior and senior staff to develop and apply advanced analysis methodologies to perform PSAs and other PSA‑related safety analyses for existing, refurbishment, and new build. This includes hazard identification, Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 PSA, seismic, flood, and fire safety assessments, failure‑mode and effect analyses, and internal and external events. The incumbent must also develop training material in PSA, review PSA documents, possess strong analytical and technical skills in PSA, and be ready to take on various technical tasks within a short period of time.Your roleResponsible for probabilistic safety assessments of plant systems, especially internal events, shutdown events, internal fire, internal flood, seismic events, and other external hazards.Responsible for conducting reliability system assessments (process and safety), particularly safety systems such as emergency core cooling and containment, balance‑of‑plant, and plant operation and safety related systems.Interfacing with clients/projects to assess operational and safety issues and advising on potential solutions.Preparing and/or reviewing work proposals for internal and external clients.Developing risk monitors and generating risk assessments.Knowledge of PSA methodologies, codes, and standards (e.g., Canadian, US, IAEA).Planning, scheduling, conducting, or coordinating detailed phases of the analysis work for a large‑scope project.Proposing or developing approaches for safety analysis tasks.Supervising the work of staff in a multidisciplinary setting, providing technical guidance and leadership to junior engineers and technical employees, and ensuring work is performed consistently with project requirements.Providing positive reinforcement and proactively encouraging positive relationships and teamwork.About YouRelevant engineering degree with at least 10 years of relevant experience.Excellent knowledge of the CANDU design, including NSP (especially safety systems) and BOP.Broad knowledge of system operation, plant response, and underlying reliability principles.Ability to work closely and effectively with clients in a client/consultant relationship.Proficiency in CAFTA suite of computer codes, CFAST, and/or RiskSpectrum (asset).Proven leadership skills, with technical guidance to assist and supervise analysts, and strong communication skills.Experience in licensing activities (asset).Understanding of light‑water reactor design and PSA (asset).Ability to work within budget and schedule, and willingness to travel occasionally for walk‑downs, meetings, and workshops.Eligibility for nuclear energy worker (NEW).Rewards & Benefits Enjoy competitive compensation, employee recognition, and a range of flexible benefits you can tailor to your health, wellbeing, financial, and lifestyle needs.
