Senior Mechanical Engineer — Nuclear Fabrication & ASME Code Niagara Energy Products is a recognized manufacturer of custom heavy fabrications supporting nuclear and critical industrial applications across North America. We are expanding our engineering capability and are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to support the execution of safety-critical fabrication projects. This role is ideal for a senior engineer who enjoys practical engineering, collaboration with manufacturing teams, and seeing designs progress from concept through fabrication and final delivery within a regulated nuclear environment. Why This Role Stands Out Unlike traditional design-only engineering roles, this position offers: Direct involvement with fabrication and shop operations Ownership of technically complex ASME code projects Visibility across the full project lifecycle A collaborative engineering–manufacturing environment Long-term stability within the nuclear supply chain A Day in the Life Reviewing design and fabrication drawings and verifying ASME Section III & VIII compliance Working alongside welding, machining, and quality teams on the shop floor Supporting manufacturability reviews during project kickoff Brainstorm complex fixturing requirements and fabrication sequence Preparing engineering calculations and fabrication documentation Participating in customer technical meetings and inspections Resolving real-time fabrication challenges Mentoring junior engineers on practical design considerations Watching engineered components move from drawings into production Your engineering decisions will directly influence fabrication success. Key Responsibilities Lead mechanical engineering execution for nuclear fabrication projects Be a client as well as vendor interface for owned projects Prepare project documents such as schedules Develop and review fabrication drawings, calculations, and engineering packages Ensure compliance with ASME Section III, Section VIII, CSA, and customer specifications Support technical estimating, quoting, and risk evaluation Provide engineering support throughout manufacturing Participate in design reviews, audits, and inspections Resolve shop-floor technical issues and deviations Required Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation 10–15 years of experience in one or more of the following fields: Nuclear manufacturing Heavy industrial or engineered-to-order environments Strong understanding of fabrication and manufacturing processes Strong aptitude for Design for Manufacturing (DFM) Excellent communication and technical documentation skills Technical Experience Strong preference for candidates with experience in: ASME Section III & Section VIII (required) Nuclear pressure boundary components Welding and fabrication processes Machining and material specifications GD&T application Manufacturability and process flow reviews SolidWorks experience is must Nuclear QA programs, audits, or inspections Compensation Niagara Energy Products offers a competitive total compensation package aligned with senior nuclear engineering roles in Ontario , including: Competitive base salary reflective of experience and P.Eng. status Performance-based compensation opportunities Career growth within a stable and expanding nuclear supply chain (Compensation details will be discussed confidentially with qualified candidates.)
