You will help ensure work is delivered safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with regulatory and quality requirements—supporting CNL’s mission to responsibly decommission legacy nuclear facilities and protect the environment.What will you be doing!Planning, coordinating, and delivering decommissioning work packages within the Facilities Decommissioning portfolioEnsuring technical deliverables meet project quality objectives and are completed on schedule and within budgetInterfacing with design teams, operations engineers, technical specialists, and field staff to obtain and integrate technical input to meet project and client requirementsIdentifying, assessing, and initiating changes to approved designs, scope, schedules, and budgets in accordance with formal change‑control processesProviding oversight of field implementation activities, including performing field walkdowns to verify facility status against approved plansParticipating in and/or leading pre‑job and post‑job reviews to support safe and effective executionCoordinating and monitoring services provided by external suppliers and contractorsConducting contractor oversight to ensure deliverables meet project requirements and applicable codes and standardsTraveling to external supplier or contractor locations, as required, to support project executionPerforming other duties as assigned by your managerWhat We Are Looking For EducationBachelor’s (Honours) degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from a university of recognized standingMembership in a provincial professional engineering associationExperienceMinimum of ten (10) years of relevant engineering experienceExperience working in a nuclear operational or decommissioning environmentExperience with technical procurement processes, including supplier qualification reviews, bid evaluations, and review and acceptance of technical deliverablesProven experience providing contractor oversight during planning, development, and execution of work packagesKnowledge, Skills & AbilitiesStrong logical and analytical thinking skills to solve complex technical problemsAbility to work effectively under pressure while managing competing priorities and regulatory requirementsStrong technical writing skills, with the ability to gather, analyze, and synthesize complex informationAbility to interpret complex engineering drawings and specifications in paper or electronic formatWorking knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite applications and formal document control processesDemonstrated knowledge of engineering codes and standards used in the design, construction, and commissioning of nuclear and non‑nuclear facilitiesSound knowledge of the National Building Code, National Fire Code, and other relevant codes and standardsFamiliarity with safety regulations, radiation protection principles, measurements, and contamination control relevant to decommissioning activitiesSecurity Clearance Eligibility Required Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), requiring a minimum of three to five years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States, and/or the United KingdomWorking ConditionsCombination of office‑based and field‑based workPeriodic work in active decommissioning and industrial environmentsWorking schedule: Four (4) days per week, ten (10) hours per day for a forty (40) hour work weekBenefits – A Total Rewards PackagePaid time off: vacation, sick, personal, and floater daysBenefits effective Day One – no waiting periodTuition support to help you keep learning and growingA defined‑benefit pension plan or a defined‑contribution pension plan, depending on your employee group, to support your long‑term financial securityLocation: Fully Onsite This role is a fully onsite position that requires the employee to primarily work at CNL’s Chalk River Laboratory site, with only occasional opportunities to work remotely, if desired by the employee.
