Your Opportunity Stantec’s Western Canadian Power Delivery team is offering opportunities for Project Engineers to work on HV/EHV AC and DC substation projects across North America. Opportunities exist across our western Canadian offices. Your Key Responsibilities Work closely with Project Managers to manage the scope, schedule, and cost of projects and provide technical oversight. Identify and manage project technical risks. Act as project technical lead to collaborate with internal engineering teams, clients, and third party stakeholders. Lead and coordinate with internal engineering teams to complete tasks such as reviewing vendor drawings of equipment, inter-disciplinary reviews of deliverables, maintaining and updating project technical documents of record, internal QA, and coordinating resolution of complex technical challenges. Develop design plans, strategies, schedules and resource planning for engineering activities at Identification, Definition and Implementation phases. Coordinate and oversee the development of technical documents such as specifications, drawings and reports. Work with construction management, engineering, and procurement management to ensure technical support is available and issues are addressed in a timely manner during construction, fabrication, and testing & commissioning phases. Assist in preparing proposals, project plans and estimates. Follow internal QA/QC procedures to deliver high quality engineering services to clients. Conduct site visits to verify existing installations, define project scopes, prepare for detailed designs and provide construction site support as required. May conduct detailed engineering work such as design, specifications, and studies as needed. Your Capabilities and Credentials Field experience in commissioning and testing is considered an asset. Proven knowledge in Geotechnical, Civil/Structural, P&C, SCADA, Telecom, Mechanical, and Architectural is an asset. Equipment engineering experience is an asset. Excellent computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and MicroStation. Effective interpersonal skills (written & verbal) are essential for interacting with multi-disciplinary teams, suppliers, sub-consultants and managing client relationships. Demonstrated capability to efficiently handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Holding a valid Class 5 (or equivalent) driver’s license. Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (specialization in Power System) with minimum 8 years of proven experience as a project engineer in high voltage substations for utilities in North America. 6 years of direct experience onPhysical Design of high voltage (69kV and above) substation projects is required. Professional Engineer registered with the Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC), or related association in Canada. Typical office environment with a hybrid work model; field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
