Reporting to the Director, Continuous Improvement, the Project Manager – Business Improvement Initiatives is responsible for the planning, execution, and successful completion of defined business-level improvement projects and special initiatives within Aecon’s Nuclear SBU. These initiatives are intended to increase value, remove waste, improve performance, and enhance operational effectiveness across project delivery and support functions. The role applies disciplined project management practices to improvement initiatives of various scope and size and is accountable for achieving defined Conditions of Satisfaction (CoS) aligned with key performance indicators including Value, Safety, Quality, Schedule, Cost, and People. What You’ll Do Here: Business Improvement Project Delivery Plan, execute, monitor, and close business improvement initiatives from initiation through sustainment Translate strategic and operational objectives into clearly defined scopes, deliverables, milestones, and success criteria Develop and maintain project plans including schedules, resource requirements, and budgets (where applicable) Ensure initiatives remain aligned with approved objectives, scope, and benefit expectations Coordinate cross-functional participation required to deliver assigned initiatives Deliver initiatives focused on improving business effectiveness, operational performance, and productivity Identify opportunities to reduce waste, inefficiencies, rework, and non-value-added activities Define, track, and report benefit realization metrics throughout the initiative lifecycle Validate outcomes against agreed Conditions of Satisfaction and key business KPIs Stakeholder Coordination & Change Management Work collaboratively with functional leaders and teams across Engineering, Construction, Project Controls, Quality, Supply Chain, Finance, and other support functions Facilitate alignment, decision‑making, and issue resolution across stakeholders Ensure effective communication and coordination across all participants impacted by the initiative Support transition and adoption of improvements into normal business operations Develop and maintain initiative schedules reflecting milestones and dependencies Identify, manage, and mitigate risks and issues impacting initiative delivery Maintain active risk and issue registers Implement mitigation or recovery actions where performance deviates from plan Governance, Reporting & Compliance Ensure assigned initiatives follow Aecon governance, approval, and reporting requirements Maintain accurate project documentation in accordance with corporate standards Provide regular status updates to senior leadership, including progress, risks, and realized benefits Ensure initiatives align with applicable nuclear policies, quality programs, and regulatory expectations Safety, Quality & Nuclear Awareness Promote Aecon’s “Safety Always” culture in all activities Ensure business improvement initiatives do not negatively impact nuclear safety, quality, or regulatory compliance Maintain awareness of the nuclear operating environment when implementing changes Other Duties and Responsibilities Actively collaborate with Continuous Improvement and business stakeholders across the organization Participate in reviews, workshops, and working sessions as required to support improvement initiatives Support knowledge sharing and documentation of lessons learned Participate in company‑wide initiatives aligned with overall business improvement objectives Lead cross‑functional initiative teams without direct line authority Provide direction, coordination, and accountability for assigned workstreams Support a collaborative and professional team environment No direct supervisory responsibility unless assigned What You Bring To The Team: Minimum 5 years Project Management experience 10+ years overall industry experience Demonstrated experience delivering business improvement, transformation, or cross‑functional initiatives Strong project management skills including planning, scheduling, risk, and issue management Excellent organizational, communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills Ability to operate effectively in a regulated or nuclear environment Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information professionally Reason for Vacancy: New Pay Range: $90,000 - $130,000 per year Aecon fosters diversity, inclusion and belonging within and across our organization.
