What will you do? Establish control and governance framework over the financial reporting for each business area, ensuring flawless execution of close processes, including review of financial and regulatory submissions (e.g., journal entries, templates). Oversee the financial and regulatory reporting for all supported business lines to ensure timely production of accurate financial and regulatory results and disclosures. Ensure that new products and transactions are appropriately captured in RBC financial reporting systems and that appropriate accounting methodologies are applied. Prepare analyses that consider IFRS accounting implications and external/internal reporting requirements including MD&A, balance sheet, P&L, note disclosures, and supplemental formats. Manage the monthly Global Attestation review program to ensure proper financial controls supporting external financial results are in place and that global policies and procedures are adhered to by all stakeholders. Act as the quarterback for Finance with respect to accounting issues, partnering with other functional groups to support accurate reporting of all Front Office transactions. Establish and maintain relationships with the business and key stakeholders (Product Control, Performance Management, IT, Risk Management, Accounting Policy, Tax, Capital, and other Enterprise Finance partners) to be a trusted business partner and first point of contact for finance‑related issues. Develop understanding of business results and key drivers for accounting variances, providing value‑added advice as the business transforms. Serve as subject‑matter expert for accounting conclusions, data flows and related operational issues; maintain technical knowledge and keep teams abreast of new accounting developments. Drive continuous process improvement and system change, enabling Global Markets FC to focus on analytics by empowering the team to innovate, redesign controls with a risk‑based lens, improve flows, automate manual processes, or optimize data strategies. Collaborate with Wholesale Finance to identify opportunities for end‑to‑end flow understanding and actionable improvement. Provide strategic business advice on high‑priority new initiatives related to Finance governance and reporting, collaborating across Finance, Technology, Operations, and Functional groups. Actively manage and represent Finance on platform/global IT system projects and initiatives. Lead a small team, coaching and providing clear direction while fostering long‑term development of team members. Ensure employees understand RBC vision and purpose, and encourage behaviors aligning with RBC Blueprint. What do you need to succeed? Must‑have CPA designation or equivalent, with 8‑10 years of experience. Strong knowledge of relevant financial and regulatory accounting standards. People‑management experience with strong leadership and team‑building skills. Drive to take ownership of issues and motivate collaboration across functional groups with urgency. Curiosity to explore improvements to the status quo and motivate the team to do the same. Excellent communication and presentation skills, including comfort presenting to senior management and ability to explain complex issues concisely. Some exposure to Capital Markets businesses, understanding of complex financial instruments and transactions relating to securities, derivatives and debt/equity issuances, with willingness to deepen that knowledge.
