Structural Engineer, Mining Locations: St. Johns, NL; Brampton, Sudbury; North Bay, ON. Salary range: $85,000 – $95,000 (actual compensation based on experience, qualifications, and location). In this role, you will be a part of the Mining team and work from one of our offices in St. Johns, NL; Brampton; Sudbury; or North Bay, ON. You will support the design, inspection, and maintenance of mining infrastructure to ensure safety, performance, and compliance. Responsibilities Perform site visits to inspect and assess existing mining infrastructure. Analyze and design steel structures and concrete foundations per applicable codes and standards in the mining and heavy industrial sector. Prepare sketches and collaborate with designers to produce detailed drawings. Coordinate with clients and other disciplines to develop layout designs. Prepare engineering calculations, technical specifications, and scope documents. Contribute to technical memos and reports within areas of expertise. Develop detailed working drawings for steel, concrete, wood, and masonry. Ensure all projects are carried out per scope, budget, and schedule. Assist in proposal preparations. Perform post‑IFC services such as shop drawing reviews and field reviews. Execute stamping of documents and drawings as required and if appropriately registered. Apply safety and integrity principles to structural documentation. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from a recognized university. Registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) within the province (mandatory). Minimum 7+ years of project engineering, design, and construction experience in surface and underground mining. Design and construction experience in heavy industry. Experience in structural inspections and assessments. Strong hands‑on experience in analysis and design of steel structures, reinforced concrete structures, building and heavy equipment foundations—preferably in mining; experience in environmental structures considered an asset. Experience designing steel and concrete for miscellaneous industrial structures such as pipe racks, equipment platforms, pump foundations, retaining walls, monorails, etc. Proficiency in application of NBC, OBC, and other relevant codes and standards; familiarity with Mine Health and Safety Regulations. Knowledge of mining‑related processes is a definite asset. Proficiency in STAAD.Pro for structural analysis and design. Experience working in a multi‑disciplinary BIM environment. Strong computer skills (MS Office, MathCAD, etc.). Organized, self‑motivated, proactive, detail‑oriented with strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to work with minimal supervision. Multi‑tasking ability and skilled at managing multiple projects and assignments. Experience with procedures and workflows in project execution. A team player who collaborates effectively with others.
